Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

New York Attorney General Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has confirmed that the Donald J. Trump Foundation "charity" is being investigated for potential non-compliance with state charity laws. He said that it "may have engaged in some impropriety from that point of view".
The Trumpet hasn't actually given any money to the foundation in eight years and has used it's funds to pay for gifts, including a large painting of himself.

The Trump campaign has responded in it's inimitable style, calling AG Schneiderman "a partisan hack who has turned a blind eye to the Clinton Foundation for years" and claiming that the investigation was "a left-wing hit job".

Given the campaign's rapid shift on the health issue, it seems Donald may not be the picture of health he claims to be. Kellyanne said, “I don’t know why we need such extensive medical reporting when we all have a right to privacy,” today when questioned about the doctors letter the campaign released in December. It seems the physical Donald was bragging about taking and releasing on Dr. Oz's show didn't turn out as astonishingly excellent as he expected. Hard to imagine that happening to a paunchy 70 year old man living off KFC with a terrible sleep schedule.

Donald laying off the bait on health now seems less about any sudden discipline, more about his own liabilities. They're using the same walk back they did when they were pretending they were actually going to release his tax returns.

Anyone want to comment on Trump giving 6 weeks of paid leave?

I read your post and completely misunderstood your point. I thought you were describing how Trump's businesses are giving six weeks of paid leave. I consider that a generous benefit and was going to say that I mischaracterized Trump's business practices.

Trump is proposing six weeks of medical leave. But again,, I consider that a generous position.

What comments would you like to make about it?

ETA
Trump’s announcement marks a massive shift against what had been Republican orthodoxy. For instance, GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill refused even to applaud when President Obama demanded “a bill” on paid maternity leave in his 2015 State of the Union Address.

Many evangelical Republicans might also balk at the fact the perk would be available to same-sex couples, according to Trump’s Web site, which says, “The benefits would be available in the same way that the IRS currently recognizes same-sex couples: if the marriage is recognized under state law, then it is recognized under federal law.”

It's good to see Trump appropriating some Democratic Party policies.

With daughter Ivanka at his side, Donald Trump on Tuesday night called for a new national family-leave policy that would provide six weeks of paid leave for new moms and tax breaks for child and elderly care.

Sounds like a refreshingly progressive policy and one which isn't likely to go down well with employers or the GOP faithful - good for Trump.

As with all things, the devil is no doubt in the detail and given Trump's ability to contradict himself in a single sentence, I'd like to wait a week or two before congratulating him too much lest it gets reversed or forgotten about.

edited to add....

According to Trump, the scheme will be self funding:

Further, Trump said his plan would provide six weeks of maternity leave “to any mother with a newborn child whose employer does not provide the benefit” by tackling fraud in unemployment insurance. For the six-week period, the mother would receive the equivalent to unemployment benefits while she is out of the workplace. This would not apply to fathers, though.

Does that mean that if there isn't enough fraud found then the scheme would not go ahead ?

It's inexpensive because "paid" means paid at unemployment benefits levels not at the mother's salry level.

Of course it wouldn't be a Trump press conference without some lies:

Trump also strangely asserted that “my opponent has no childcare plan”. Clinton has made a number of detailed proposals on childcare. The Democratic nominee first outlined a program for universal pre-kindergarten in June 2015 and in May 2016 proposed to cap childcare costs at 10% of household income and to introduce 12 weeks of paid family leave.

Again, and I can't seem to stress this enough, I think Trump would be the absolute worst President in US history. I think the word "evil" would be appropriate in a description of him, as would be the case with many sociopaths. He is filth. I do not want the system to be tested in this fashion but I honestly believe it would pass such a test.

I know and I wish I had taken the time to find an actual Trump supporter posting the sentiment instead of you. But, I was lazy and just did a quick flip through until I found your post.

I'm not saying you are wrong, it is just that as I was reading that vest thread I was reminded that there are some systems you really shouldn't put to the test in a live environment. Electing Trump as a means to test the robustness of our governing system seems similarly reckless.

Just like his childcare plan, it doesn't help those that need it most.

Experts say that Trump's plan is a good start and a recognition that the issue is important to women and families, but Vivien Labaton, co-executive director of Make It Work Action, said Trump's plan offers less than Clinton's.

"His childcare proposal is really designed for the Ivanka Trump's of the country more than the working families who need help," Labaton said.

She said any plan, including Trump's, that offers a tax rebate won't work for many lower income families. Many struggling families don't make enough to pay taxes and other struggling families who do pay taxes need up-front relief up before tax time.

Well it's a small step in the right direction, but the comparable provision here in the UK is 12 months. Also of course given Trump's track record he could come out tomorrow with a different number, or completely reverse himself. That's the fundamental issue with Trump, you have no idea where he stands from one day to the next.
