Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

Why do you keep personalizing everything? I speak for myself. I don't care what he is basing his campaign on. Hillary is basing her campaign on the fact that she has a vagina (allegedly).

That's a safer bet than "Vote for me because I'm a billionaire."

I'd love for you to expand on how a businessman who has run most of his partners and businesses into the ground is a good person to put in charge of our country. Why should we partner with someone who has so little regard for those he partners with?
I love how you guys try to portray this billionaire how unsuccessful he is, gosh, no one will do business with this guy. There is so many more who speak very highly of him, you're in denial and clearly not absorbing the reality that is his successful life. Your narrative is not what normal people see when they hear Trump. You didn't even know any of the negativity of some of his failings until he ran for president.

The idea that anyone would compare the Orange clown to JFK makes me vomit. JFK oozed class. Trump oozes something, but it's not class. JFK's administration was nicknamed Camelot. Trump's administration would be WTF?!

The idea that Sunmaster thinks he knows how Trump would handle the Cuban missile crisis is a laugh since no one including his advisors knows how Trump is going to handle anything.

No, I'm afraid if Trump was in the Oval in October of 1962 we wouldn't be here.

Depends on how effective GOP attempts at voter suppression are ;)

The dems are not worried about blacks, although Trump will do much better than any republican candidate.

The dems are now terribly worried about the rust belt and rural folks who didn't vote last time. Guess what, they love Trump!!

JKF was a womanizing corrupt rich boy who loved tax breaks.

First of all, bankruptcy doesn't mean that the creditors don't get paid in full. Often they do. Bankruptcy is a means of preserving value and distributing it fairly. Chapter 11 bankruptcy, in particular, is used to restructure a company and keep it operating. All of Trump's bankruptcies have gone through Chapter 11 and come out on the other side as still functioning businesses. Bankruptcy just provided a mechanism for distributing some or all of the ownership to the creditors through an ordered process with judicial oversight.

Second, it is almost a tautology that if a business is wound up such that its creditors have been paid in full, that the owners of the business have left value on the table. The equity value is equal to a call option on the enterprise value with a strike price equal to the value of the debt. Unwinding the business is equivalent to exercising the call option early, unless of course it is timed when there is no debt, which extinguishes option time value. It is usually better for the owners to sell the business to somebody else or to keep going. The main point is that the creditors are paid to take the downside risk of the company after the equity holders have taken their hit. Their protections are contractual, and to the extent the managers can extract value consistent with the contractual terms, then they should do so. In fact, they have a fiduciary obligation to do so for the owners.
It is hilarious watching you teach these "smart" people about bankruptcy.

How can anyone get Schlafly right and Phyllis wrong? "Phillies Schlafly" sounds like a nickname for someone who banged the team.

Somebody finally turned the autocorrect on his phone on and that's what it spit out? Then again this is the guy that suggested Clinton had Bryan Pagliano murdered at his rally today so who knows what the thought process was.

Actually, there isnt. Sure, he has some people will do business with him. I certainly would require he pay COD Certified check if he bought a switch from me. Have you checked his D&B rating? The guy hasn't built crap in a very long time.

What Trump is good at is sales. He knows how to market. But he's HORRIBLE at managing people. His ego won't allow himself to acknowledge that a lot of people know one hell of a lot more than him.

The core message from Trump and his supporters is that his business sense is what makes him qualified.

Yes or no?

Yes, but his leadership qualities are heads and tales above what we now or what the dems want us to have. She'll certainly start more wars. ;)

He's very good at both and his success should be a clue.

Does this mean "he will do better than any other Republican candidate for president would have done"? Or, "He will do better than any Republicans will in state races?" Since he is a Republican candidate I'm not sure what distinction you are making.

The dems are now terribly worried about the rust belt and rural folks who didn't vote last time. Guess what, they love Trump!!
Trump undoubtedly will inspire some habitual non-voters to vote for him. But I don't think the white supremacist vote will tip the election.

I could be wrong.

This kind of comment (pretty astonishing for many people here, me included) explains a lot about why some people thinks Trump is "good businessman".

Let's not fool ourselves. It's not that they think Trump is a good businessman; they think he's an alpha male. sunmaster14's comment about, and apparent admiration for, Trump's "aggression" highlights that. His followers' apparent admiration for his ****-talking also supports that.

A far less charitable comment about the situation is that they desire a strongman leader because they, themselves, are not strong.

More poetry from the eloquent nominee.

And you know cyber is becoming so big today. It’s becoming something that number of years ago, short number of years ago, wasn’t even a word. And now the cyber is so big, and you know look at what they’re doing with the internet. How they’re taking recruiting people through the internet. And part of it is the psychology because so many people think they’re winning. And you know, there’s a whole big thing. Even today, psychology — where CNN came out with a big poll. Their big poll came out today that Trump is winning. It’s good psychology, you know. It’s good psychology.

Wow, talk about mindlessly buying into the myth. JFK was an uber douchebag and a fraud. Almost certainly worse than Trump as a human being. He forced himself on a 19 year old intern in the White House and later coerced her into giving one of his friends a blow job in the swimming pool while he watched. He was weak and frail and dishonest, and his Daddy bought him everything, including the Presidency. His brothers were no better, although Bobby was probably the smart one at least. Trump has zero class, but that's more than JFK had. And at least Trump has done some legitimate work in his life.

The idea that Sunmaster thinks he knows how Trump would handle the Cuban missile crisis is a laugh since no one including his advisors knows how Trump is going to handle anything.

Since when is saying "I think A" the same as "I know A"? I was asked what I think Trump would do, and I answered in good faith. For you to repackage that into some sort of smear against me is the extremely dishonest.

No, I'm afraid if Trump was in the Oval in October of 1962 we wouldn't be here.

That's a laugh. Aside from the fact that Trump almost certainly wouldn't have led Khruschev to believe that the US would do nothing about the Soviet Union installing missiles in Cuba, there was absolutely no chance the US would have been destroyed in a nuclear war back in 1962. The Soviets had a paltry nuclear capacity, relatively.

I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks.

The danger of a President Trump are precisely that the office has so little power to affect change on its own: for all his campaign promises, Trump would need the support of Congress that simply isn't there, not even from the party he is supposedly representing.

What will someone with a personality like Trump's do when you are caught in a system that frustrates your plans at every point?

I think he will rule by one executive order after another, one more short-sighted than the last. And yes, he will use the military as his goon squad around the world, just to show 'who's boss' when he knows that it is certainly not him when it comes to US politics.
