This is maybe a derail, and worthy of a thread on its own, but how long do downstream campaigns last?
The presidential campaign has now been going for a full year, with 2 months to go, and all those hopefuls have been on the road 24/7 campaigning all that time. At least, I got the impression that Sanders, Cruz and Rubio have been neglecting their senatorial duties in the meantime, and Christie and Kasich their gubernatorial duties.
But how do all those Senators and Reps do that who want to be re-elected? They also have primaries they have to campaign for and then in November the actual election. Senators at least have the luxury of being elected for 6 years, but a Rep has to go up for (re)election every two years.
Is Congress half-empty during election season?
