Wow, talk about missing the point. You weren't even in the same galaxy. It's not about dirty tricks and political attacks by Democrats and their allies in the press. I think these are heartfelt critiques. People like Joe Klein really did feel that McCain was running a racist campaign because Klein is so biased that, in the heat of a campaign, he can't view opposition talking points as anything else. The same dynamic happened with Mitt Romney, who, everybody agrees now, is a decent human being and not somebody who fires employees unnecessarily and gives their spouses cancer to boot.

It's a lack of perspective, which I think predominantly afflicts liberals who see politics as a battle between good and evil. Some of the responses to Trump are cases in point, which, some day I hope, liberals will admit were over the top.

Never. The GOP Fuhrer is a total piece of trash not to mention stupid, ignorant, and mentally disordered. He is by far the worst candidate in modern history. No hyperbole at all.

You Republicans should be deeply ashamed that he is the nominee. But I don't think most Republicans are even capable of feeling shame.

For example, the 2nd amendment "threat" kerfuffle is so stupid that it's become a source of amusement for me. My wife went out walking with five friends (all middle aged women) yesterday and the chatter was all about how Trump was inciting his followers to assassinate Hillary.

Trump doesn't have particularly deep thoughts, but he does glom onto conservative scuttlebutt now and then, and he almost certainly was referring to the idea that the 2nd Amendment is largely self-protecting. His comment had nothing to do with assassination and everything to do with gun owners resisting a tyrannical government's attempt to take their guns away.

Yeah. By assassinating people.

The thing with this inane blame-the-media business is the overlooking of the intense condemnation from Trump's own team, amidst the ongoing civil war within the GOP.

They've all been duped by the media, if we are to give credence to sunmaster. Ya sure.

There are three kinds of Republicans criticizing Trump. The first is the (understandably) butthurt kind, like the Bushes or Ted Cruz, or John Kasich. There's a personal animus there which transcends partisanship. The second are the principled elites who value intellectual purity above all else (e.g. George Will and most of the people at National Review). The third are those who are trying to get Trump to change his ways because they know his various gaffes are hurting his chances. This third type, which includes me, recognizes that there is a double standard, but that you have to accept it and work with it. No mainstream media outlet (except Fox News, which can't really be effective acting in isolation) is going to go after a Hillary mistake so relentlessly. Nor are they going to challenge Hillary or Hillary's surrogates on their claims like they would do for Republicans.

Now Trump is not exactly rising to the challenge, but his mistakes are the stuff of buffoonery, not malice. Four years from now, I'm sure Democrats will be comparing him favorably with the Republican nominee, regardless of who that nominee is. After all, at least Trump had some liberal positions and gave women a lot of responsibility, ... etc.

If he was talking about voting, he would have said 2nd Amendment people could prevent her from getting elected, not appointing Justices. Once she's appointing Justices, she's already been elected and it's too late for voting to do anything.

That it was a dog-whistle threat is indefensible. Best of luck trying though.

It takes days of backtracking by his legion of losers to calm the waters with this type of crap. What's going to happen when he gets called on these asinine statements, and needs to address it in real time? What about WHEN he makes 2nd Amendment solution references to heads of state, while they're all sitting at the table?

And then there are the ones who are not total idiots and thus realize the very obvious fact that Donald is a complete scumbag, stupid, ignorant, mentally unstable, and dangerous.

Nothing much.

And there are those who aren't convinced that those are necessarily bad qualities for a President to have.

Making those people worse than him. At least he doesn't know what an dangerous, idiotic, ignorant, mentally unstable scumbag he is.

I guess that settles it.

No matter how smelly, gross, or messy, there is no turd that Trump can lay that someone won't try to polish.

Wrong metaphor. It's more a question of who is worse? A guy who lays small turds out in the open where they can be cleaned up by his handlers, or a woman who lays huge ones in various people's sock drawers and covers up the smell with Lysol?

I have some ideas. Are you going to tell me yours, or are you going to keep them a secret?

Yea, it works like this:

If Trump treats a head of state, or their families the same way he treats our military, or our disabled citizens, his political opponents, or women, or our soldiers - he's going to start a war.

His handlers??

They're every bit the retard HE is. FFS man, enough is enough.

Keep polishing, sunmaster.

I'm sorry...we seem to have long since reached the point of smearing buckets of cow manure on the wall and then attempting to sell it as a lost Rembrandt.

How long can we keep this chain of metaphors going? :D

Which is a round about way of saying 'I hear she does that and it's only because she's so clever at covering up that I can't produce a shred of evidence to back my claims.'

it's pathetic, you can offer not one positive reason to support trump, not one credible defence of Donald the fraudster but still you keep swinging and missing.

And if you close your eyes and really concentrate, it almost tastes like chocolate!

He's running as a Republican. Surely that's enough, right?
