But... That statement is utterly ridiculous in hindsight. She wasn't even close.

It's like saying "A lump of clay would be unbeatable if it got the nomination," then trying to deflect criticism by emphasizing the conditional. It's just a transparent attempt to save face.

A lump of clay probably could beat Hillary Clinton. If only the Republicans had nominated someone who was at least as good as a lump of clay.

I disagree 100 percent withe first sentence and agree 100 percent with the second.

I don't recall JC having that problem, but then again that was a long time ago. W sure had it though.

Jimmy said "nuclear", as in "I asked my daughter Amy what the most important issue was in this election, and she said control of nuclear weapons."

And to think that was considered a major gaffe that might have cost him the election. What must he, and other living candidates who lost after a minor slip up, be thinking about this election, and the way Trump can still be in it after one stupid comment after another?

But, as he is finding out, it's one thing to say something stupid in the primaries. Now Donald is in the big leagues, and he can't get away with the same stuff.

I think your right in terms of the Khan episode being the "have you no decency" moment, especially when describing his "sacrifice" as being forced to be successful??? But then he doubles down, especially with predominately Republican veterans groups, with the fake purple heart episode.

My dad is a 25+ year USAF vet, which he followed up with a 25+ year civil service career with the Navy. Now, the Khan episode angered my dad. He thought that Trumps response was totally over the top insensitive, however he recognized the whole thing as a DNC hit job.

Yes only true scum would ever put the Parent of a deceased service member on their convention stage.

Bernie Sanders couldn't beat Clinton. I think you're underestimating the support she actually has. She is a competent and experienced politician that's very liberal.

But they have spent 24 years tearing her down and poisoning people against her.

And now the candidate they're putting forward is himself a lump of poison. The worse Trump behaves and the more dreadful the remarks he makes, the less credit people assign to anything Republicans say or have ever said. Trump's vileness may do more damage to the party than anything the Democrats have managed in their entire history.

What in your opinion makes this an "anti-establishment election year?"

The nomination of Trump, the strength of both Cruz and Saunders are all signs that a lot of people were looking for something other than the norm.

That's interesting. I wonder what effect Trump's campaign will have on that next time around?

"Remember Trump, or Palin before him? I'll take someone who isn't a complete novice, thanks."

Yes only true scum would ever put the Parent of a deceased service member on their convention stage.
Lets envision a time when such a thing wouldn't be needed. Unfortunately we're not there now apparently, so the only sane thing to do is put them up on stage and destroy Trump.

I think he might be sarcastically referring to the RNC's use of:

Yes only true scum would ever put the Parent of a deceased service member on their convention stage.

Yes, and only true scum would purposely omit the very next sentence in a statement that clarifies the point. My next sentence was "My dad really hates when either the RNC or the DNC make such blatant use of fallen service members in pushing their political rhetoric."

Over at the National Review's group blog, one of their idiot writers complained the liberal-controlled media foisted Trump upon us. The Democrat-loving media gave him a ton of attention, then took out the knives the moment he became the standard-bearer.

He's wearing Trump lens. It wasn't the media that voted for Trump in the primaries.

If i remember correctly they wrote stories about
Trump calling Mexicans rapists and building a wall.
Banning Muslims.
Saying McCain wasn't a war hero
Saying Megyn Kelly was bleeding out of her whatever
Mocking a disabled reporter
Suggesting they rough up a protester.
etc. etc. etc.

It's not the media's fault that none of those stories bothered the Republican base.
