We will see, I'm betting that Trump will be down another 5 point in 10 days. Clinton's 5 point lead will be 10.

Should we make clear which polls you're betting on?

I hope you're right, of course, though I'm not optimistic. In either case, let's be perfectly clear on the standard for your wager.

We will see, I'm betting that Trump will be down another 5 points in 10 days. Clinton's 5 point lead will be 10. And you'll still be thinking that Trump's reaction was right. But remember my words. When the story of this election is told in the future, many historians will say that this is the moment Trump lost whatever chance he may have had.

I never said that Trump's reaction was right. In fact, I explained that it was wrong. However, it was not so bad as to deserve the nonstop vilification delivered through the conduit of the mainstream media. My prediction is that the vilification will backfire. That was always my point.

So what is your example of a non-pc thing to say that isn't being an *******?

Well you could always put in qualifiers, such as "we know there are some rapists", if you feel the need to go there at all.

Of course, that's a pretty stupid thing to do given the population of rapey and murderey hispanics coming here is pretty damn small.

I am beginning to wonder if Trump has yet realized that if he does win in the upcoming election, then President Trump will be Commander-in-Chief of the nation’s armed forces and that the President is always very dependent upon the US military.

However, candidate Trump is making it more and more difficult for him to obtain the support and loyalty of the US military considering all of the current and former people in the US military that he has managed to tick off over the last several months.

That's not so clear to me. If I were to guess, Trump has more support from the armed forces than from the general public, just given their bent for conservativism (not that he's a good representative), populism and lack of education (among the enlisted). Are there any polls that cover this question?

Oh yes it was. He deserves every bit of backfire he gets. And he's getting if from ALL sides, so lets not play the evil liberal card, mmkay?

How about those stalwarts of liberal views like John McCain, The Bushes, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, etc...etc...etc......

A 4-Star general who was responsible for Iraq and Afghanistan. Is he not representative of the armed forces now?

LOL
Right on cue, I check CNN and get this. Which standard bearer for liberal values said the following?

"If the race in Florida is close, I will vote for Hillary Clinton," she said. "That is a very difficult statement for me to make. I disagree with her on several important issues. I have worked to elect Republicans to national and statewide offices for the last 30 years. I have never voted for a Democrat for president, and I consider myself a conservative, a supporter of limited government, gun rights, free enterprise, equality of opportunity. I am pro-life. There are no other candidates who were serious contenders for the nomination that I would not have supported.
"But," she said, "we are at a crossroads and have nominated a total narcissist -- a misogynist -- a bigot. This is a time when country has to take priority over political parties. Donald Trump cannot be elected president."

Jeb Bush's top advisor.

What makes this the turning point is Trump's ever-changing statements, his ignorance and his thin skin have become the headline news story instead of the previous story which was, 'look how his supporters don't care'.

The Republicans are trying very hard to take the narrative back by continuing to criminalize Clinton's email server.

That's a good question. I really don't put a lot of stock in the polls this early. I just noticed that a couple of polls had Clinton up by 5. But the firestorm around the Khans is still raging. Trump is being attacked from all sides including every Republican leader. And yet he is still being a defensive moron.

And the Khans are now being asked to do interviews everywhere. And they're perfect. They are asking for peace and unity and Trump just keeps on the attack. When does he understand that he needs to SHUT UP? Trump is damaging himself more than they are.

This is like if Hillary had deliberately tried to keep the email scandal going for a few more weeks.

Here in a nutshell is why Trump shouldn't be President.
No, it's not that Trump wants to ban Muslims or deport Mexicans

It's that he is monumentally stupid.

My personal observation from time(s) in uniform are that a vast majority of military persons are deep old-soil conservatives who don't like being lied to, jerked around or played. Military is a very self-selecting population and their 1% of the US poorly represents the US ideological spectrum as a whole.

{Edit to add}
And all the Democrats in uniform own guns.

Then move on to some other non PC topic that you can be police but not PC about?

Maybe, though conceding those supreme court nominations might stick far to hard in the craw of them to not vote for trump .

Trump: How many jobs did Humayan Khan create? NONE! I created a billion jobs! And they're GREAT jobs! The BEST! And how many sacrifices did he make? JUST ONE! How many sacrifices did I make? MILLIONS! I've fired millions of people, sacrificed them! And he got himself killed! I'VE NEVER GOTTEN KILLED!

Funny thing is, it's not much of an exaggeration.

"The media" is responding to events. Khan spoke, Trump responded offensively, the Khans and others responded to Trump, and Trump doubled down worse. Today McCain has rebuked Trump severely, and one of the Bush family's closest advisers has changed her party registration and announced that she's voting for Clinton. Each of these events is discrete and newsworthy. You think the media shouldn't cover them, or Trump -- acting as the Republican presidential candidate -- should be able to say whatever he wants without challenge, or challenges to Trump shouldn't be reported, or what? Nobody would be "vilifying" Trump if Trump wasn't behaving so contemptibly.

Is it particularly newsworthy, no? Would George Stephanopoulos have sandbagged Hillary with a question about Patricia Smith? I doubt it. Chris Wallace actually asked Hillary about Patricia Smith, and I she gave what I thought was an offensive answer after mouthing the politically correct platitudes. She also lied, claiming that other family members of those killed in Benghazi disputed Smith's story. In fact, family members of two out of the three others who were killed (in addition to Sean Smith) corroborated Smith's story.

Many influential Republicans have come out strong against Trump over this. Yet anonymous Internet posters dig in harder. Fascinating.

Donald hasn't lost an endorsement from those influential Republicans. They'll have to own this continued support as we're long past the time to claim you didn't know better.

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment regarding Trump.

I just doubted your poll prediction and thought that if we were serious, we should agree on a poll.

I'm afraid that I'm quite pessimistic and think that Trump has a real chance. Frankly, if it's greater than a 25% chance, that's a real shame and threat to the nation.
