Obama is a thin-skinned narcissist

The following are excerpts of a conversation had in another thread:

[edits by me for focus and because I made a typo originally]

That was probably the wrong thread for that conversation and nobody seemed to want to answer the question. I've heard similar statements on Facebook and similar.

My impression is that Obama has weathered all sorts of insults and jabs with good amount of stoicism and the occasional self-deprecating humor. He's also taken comedic jabs at certain people during the journalist dinner (the name of the event escapes me), which is supposed to be a roast. I honestly don't understand the claim that he is thin-skinned. He certainly hasn't attempted to have gag orders placed on people who have called him names, as has Trump.

I also don't understand the narcissism claim. I'm struggling to even think of an example that might be perceived as narcissism. I suppose calling the ACA "Obamacare" might be one, but that was originally applied by detractors. Obama only later embraced the name as a way to diffuse the connotation. As in, "Why yes, I do care."

So, I re-ask the question in it's own thread: What are some examples of Obama's more nuanced and subtle, perhaps more dramatic, thin-skinned narcissism that puts him in the same petulant narcissist league as Donald J. Trump?

It's because he's an uppity black guy that has overstepped his proper place in society....

This seems to be an offshoot of the "Messiah" myth where conservatives convinced themselves that Obama campaigned as a Jesus type figure that would fix everything. Once they had done that it isn't much of a stretch to get to narcissism.

Except of course they haven't anymore. The danger about basing your argument on feelings is that they can run out of control, and they have. The Republicans have stirred up so much anger and fear that they made Trump a viable candidate, Kind of reminds me of the end of Forbidden Planet:

It is a good thing to be able to quote from Forbidden Planet!!!!!

Maybe he's looking into it very, very strongly. At a certain point in time maybe he'll be revealing some interesting things

Maybe he has people that have been studying it and they cannot believe what they're finding.

Donald Trump Threatens To Hit Democratic Convention Speakers ‘So Hard Their Heads Would Spin’

Donald Trump’s critics are starting to get under his skin. Speaking at a rally in Davenport, Iowa, on Thursday, the GOP presidential nominee fumed about the criticism he was receiving from speakers at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

“I mean, the things that were said about me,” Trump told the crowd. “I was going to hit a number of those speakers so hard their heads would spin, they’d never recover!”

What began as Trump griping, however, quickly turned menacing.

“I was going to hit one guy in particular, a very little guy. I was going to hit this guy so hard his head would spin. He wouldn’t know what the hell happened.”

Trump never named his target, but he seemed to confirm in a tweet Friday morning that it was former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, one of the DNC speakers.
. . .
The angrier and more threatening Trump became, the more his audience loved it, interrupting his rant several times to applaud.

and the one he centered on, "the little guy." typically bully...

.... the little guy who can buy and sell you and have change left over to tip the waiter. He would only vaguely threaten an actual billionaire.... one whose liquid and has a few friends in the union shops that could shut down his NYC properties.

Bully boy is like the scrapper saying "Hold me back..." while proffering his arms hoping that someone will hold him back, lest he get his ass kicked.

Clearly, Obama is a similarly thin-skinned narcissist as Donald Trump. You can tell from the copious evidence that folks like sunmaster14 and Ziggurat will eventually get around to providing. Probably.

Any day now.

I didn't see that, I missed Trump's rant -- and that's what the article called it, a "rant" -- missed it entirely. (Though I did see Mike Bloomberg's Convention speech live and my wife and I both "laughed out loud!")

This was a tough day, I needed that, thanks for the link Myron! :)

Trump seems to be entering meltdown mode. Not that I'm surprised. As a New Yorker I have been exposed to The Don's antics for the past thirty-five years. He was always a staple of local newscasts. But I think his sinking poll numbers have a lot more to do with his rising anger than Bloomberg's comments as on point as they were:

"Trump says he'll punish manufacturers that move to Mexico or China, but the clothes he sells are made overseas in low-wage factories. He says he wants to put Americans back to work, but he games the US visa system so he can hire temporary foreign workers at low wages. He says he wants to deport 11 million undocumented people, but he seems to have no problem in hiring them. What'd I miss here?!" Link

And the 'kill' shot:
"I've built a business and I didn't start it with a million-dollar check from my father."

Remember the primaries? Remember how people said, "Wait until the real election starts. Wait until the Democrats start going after him." I can actually imagine Trump doing something completely outrageous! Something they'll be talking about for the next hundred years! He's out of his league, in over his head.

It's almost surreal.

I think it's more like a toddler whining that people are being mean, wishing he had the power to smack people around.

Another Billionaire unloads on Trump:

Buffett challenges Trump to exchange tax returns, slams GOP nominee's business record

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett on Monday campaigned alongside Democrat Hillary Clinton at a rowdy rally in his home state of Nebraska, where he challenged Republican Donald Trump to release his tax returns and hammered the GOP nominee's business record and comments on Muslim immigration.

Amid a series of criticisms, Buffett delivered a forceful rebuke of Trump's recent statements about the Khans, the Muslim parents of a decorated American soldier killed in Iraq, asking of Trump, "Have you no decency, sir?".

There's a lot more he said in the article. Don't want to quote too large an excerpt, per forum rules. He goes on to talk about how much money Trump has cost his investors in his failed endeavors while other businesses (like Buffet's) thrived and paid back their investors handsomely.

I wonder if this line of attack stings the most for Trump: actual successful businessmen like Buffet and Bloomberg calling him on his bull.

As interesting as anything else, perhaps more so.... Hillary's campaigning in Nebraska? Do they know something? One of the worst-kept secrets of the last few election cycles is that the in-house Dem polls are very good. Is the bread basket in play? Alternately, was she in Iowa and just stopped off to pick up a couple of million in pocket money, or was this simply an invitation from Warren and no one in their right mind turns down a chance to meet with The Wizard?

Nebraska is one of two states (Maine is the other) that gives an electoral vote to the winner of each Congressional district. So while she is very unlikely to win the state, she could win a electoral vote from it. Obama did in 2008.
