Obama is a thin-skinned narcissist

Second, and more importantly, it's not even relevant. Even assuming it's completely true, that doesn't demonstrate in any way that Obama is not a thin-skinned narcissist.
Ziggurat appears to have forgotten the basic rules of evidence, or perhaps even logic. Even if Ziggurat had succeeded in identifying a remark that is irrelevant or fails to "demonstrate in any way that Obama is not a thin-skinned narcissist", the existence of one irrelevant remark would not be evidence for Ziggurat's positive claim that Obama is a thin-skinned narcissist.

If the burden of proof were indeed reversed, leaving it to others to provide evidence against Ziggurat's claim, they could simply point to Ziggurat's inability to cite examples or facts in support of his claim. In any mildly skeptical venue, the fact that a claim's advocates are unable/unwilling to mention examples or evidence is ordinarily enough to reject the claim outright.

Because there is evidence that he is one.
That's a transparent dodge, employed by all sorts of people ranging from relativity deniers to 9/11 no-planers. If there were evidence, it would be easier for Ziggurat to mention it than to dance around like this.

If I get around to it. I'm now off for some long-distance travel, won't have much time for the next week or so.
That was Ziggurat's fourth post in this thread. He had time to respond four times, but couldn't think of any examples or evidence he could even allude to within those four posts.

sunmaster14 did slightly better, telling us to perform a Google search. As A'isha and others have explained, however, that Google search just turns up more evidence-free expressions of the sentiment, along with a couple of examples of Obama's self-deprecating humor that count as evidence against the claim made by Ziggurat and sunmaster14.

Ziggurat's and sunmaster14's abject failure to support their claim does not necessarily mean their claim is untrue, but it is reason enough to assume their claim is untrue until someone does a better job of manufacturing evidence for it.

That anyone, much less someone holding perhaps the most scrutinized, pressure-packed office in the world, is occasionally testy, irritable or some shade of self-involved is wholly understandable. I'm only human, you're only human, the President of the United States is only human.

Mr. Obama, has, to these eyes, shown remarkable depths and quantities of poise, grace, intellect, evenness of disposition, and consideration for others. He appears to be a first-class dad and above average husband, and enjoys long-lasting friendships with a number of people. All of this alongside holding a 24-hour-a-day pressure cooker of a job with awesome responsibilities that he cannot for a minute escape from.

Regardless of his politics, or his imperfect record while in office, he is an admirable man.

You've got that backwards. While we wait on proof of the claim that he is, you just restate it as fact and act as if it is up to everyone else to prove he is not.

Nice dodge. Well actually, no it's not. It's lame.

Doesn't it fall within the "unicorn in my garage" fallacy range?

Has anyone done a good running Obama joke routine that *didn't* involve a second black guy who just stood behind him and got angry because he was unable to?

Oh, freebacon. You never fail to disappoint.

Yeah, these are the kind of fringe articles I've seen on the topic. Long on claims, short on details or evidence. That one seems to take one or two phrases out of context, with different emphasis to make it's point. Admittedly, that's more than most articles I've seen has had.

Please don't dishonor bacon that way!!!!!!!!:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp

I second that request. Obama's endured a lot of hate from the right in the last 8 years and has shown little indication that it bothers him at all.

Being hated by racist/elitist ******** is not at all a bad thing. Especially if you have security who can adjust their existence appropriately - and will...

I don't. While many people are overtly racist, I wouldn't care to accuse people of being unconsciously racist just because they attack a man who is black. First because it's unfalsifiable, second because it doesn't really help, and third because it becomes a blanket accusation against all opposition. At this stage in US politics, if Jesus himself was a Democratic candidate or president, the GOP would hate his guts and block him at every turn.

Or **** themselves when it hit them that He was not even a little bit on their side.

First, there are obvious alternative explanations to explain what you describe, including simple partisanship. Holding your opponents to a higher standard than you hold those on your side is an almost universal human trait, one need not appeal to racism to explain it.

Second, and more importantly, it's not even relevant. Even assuming it's completely true, that doesn't demonstrate in any way that Obama is not a thin-skinned narcissist.

No, it doesn't.
Very convincing evidence that!!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I remember seeing this again and again years ago, so I finally looked it up. I got the same hit about how he's better at writing speeches than his speech writer, better at policy than, etc. This was accompanied by pictures of Obama holding his head up high. There's also video of him of him swishing a three-pointer and acting like, "of course it went in..." On the other-hand he realizes he's not so good at throwing a baseball, and says retards are better bowlers.

As someone above said, almost all of these politicians are not lacking in self-confidence. The same holds for CEOs. Successful people are generally more likely to attribute their success to their natural talents and work ethic than to luck or nepotism.

What's peculiar about this thread is the claim that Obama is thin-skinned. Does Obama have a history of blowing up at the teeniest, tiniest criticism. The Mr. Cool thing is just a complete fabrication?? If anyone considers thin-skinned narcissism a serious character flaw, then they should stay the hell away from Trump. The guy is a DSM-V narcissist, putting his name on everything and getting wildly offended over the slightest criticism. But what do you expect from a small-fingered vulgarian?

And believe it or not, they're ignoring the most thin-skinned black politician-narcissist - Dr. Ben, It's Not Brain Surgery, Carson. That tour of his digs was hysterical.

Obama is black so "thin-skinned narcissist " is just another way of saying "uppity ******." Anyone who thinks they can be President has a very healthy ego, but Obama has been far less of an egotist than many of his rivals, enemies, or predecessors. But to some people, what would be acceptable confidence in an adult white male is a being "uppity" in a black man, or being a "bitch" if they are a woman.

Interesting, so what could be perceived as assertiveness or even leadership in one person is quickly dismissed as narcissism in another....

You can see how he lords over people in meetings and conferences which have been televised. The Obamacare debates with Republicans was a prime example. He debates by attributing the most shallow and self-serving motives to his opponents, and is the consummate builder and destroyer of strawmen. He does this even to Democrats. Take for example, his dismissal of Elizabeth Warren's concerns about TPP last year.

I can see how people who aren't as smart as Obama is might see this as evidence of his genius, but I can assure you that people who are as smart as he (or likely smarter) can see right through the ********, right down to a man who at his core will not change his mind, or admit a mistake, or even admit that his opponents might be advocating in good faith. He has been treated as if he ***** diamonds from the time he was in law school (and probably long before), and he has turned into exactly what you might expect.

I'd say we have resolved this issue nicely. Conservatives who called Obama a thin-skinned narcisist were engaging in what conservatives do best: pulling stuff out of their ass.

Or...just projection. And not just Trump, consider:

The report on right-wing extremists that they threw a fit over,
the "controversies" over race that we've seen,
the time that they invited him to the congressional retreat, and then acted like he sprung a trap on them,
the whining about how awful the richest Americans have been treated,
the fits they threw when Pelosi said something mild to them (and Barney Frank basically mocking the idea of them not doing their jobs because of their hurt feelings).

I'm sure folks can come up with plenty of other examples - those are just ones from when I considered the GOP a viable political party.

If I get around to it. I'm now off for some long-distance travel, won't have much time for the next week or so.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that the plan is to let the thread drop off after a week or so and never get back around to it.

"Nope! Er, look at the time... Gotta go!" does not fill one with confidence.

Stupid, idiotic, lying Republicans have been so very wrong about Obama (and many, many, many other things) for so many years, that one cannot ever expect them to stop being stupid, idiotic, lying Republicans.

Sunmaster, they ignored you on purpose. Shame on them!

Probably all a bunch of damn ole crats.

That little performance by Newt was astounding in its honesty. "Doesn't matter. You may have the facts on your side, but we've got their feelings."

Except of course they haven't anymore. The danger about basing your argument on feelings is that they can run out of control, and they have. The Republicans have stirred up so much anger and fear that they made Trump a viable candidate, Kind of reminds me of the end of Forbidden Planet:

My evil self is at that door, and I have no power to stop it!
