In working with Melania Trump on her recent First Lady speech, we discussed many people who inspired her and messages she wanted to share with the American people. A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama. Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant.

They have a better tweet writer than they do a speech writer. Sounds like a machination to me though.

I wonder if Manafort will take back his accusations this was a Clinton conspiracy or those other idiots like Pierson will admit MLP quotes were not the same?

But what this really looks like is, Melania herself is the plagiarist and her friend/staff member was asked to fall on her sword. The delay in the story coming out suggests the current story took time to be created.

Trump's latest Tweet: Melania got more publicity than the whole convention, is't she fantastic?

This stuff is seriously starting to drive me crazy.

I'm thinking I'll just write-in Groot.
Just stop listening to the lies about Clinton and console yourself that at least she's the adult in the room. And she's qualified—a bonus!

I do like how he explained his foreign policy: "I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. "

I bet the RNC really loves that tweet.

He who? Trump himself personally? This is the campaign for President of the entire *********** United States, they should have teams of people in charge of teams of people checking every piece of Convention content for really basic stuff like accidental gaffs and really obvious freshman-in-college-copying-Wikipedia level text checking.

These people are total amateurs in the political arena. This isn't a beauty pageant. And they're not listening to the few experts they have.

No, Gates or Manafort. I'm not going to dispute that the RNC has been a total cluster without a coherent message other than Hillary bad, Trump good. Nothing about how their policies will improve the lives of Americans.

I'm just saying there should be no reasonable expectation that a speechwriter would plagiarize a speech and therefore it is unrealistic to believe that anyone should be checking for that.

Now, if your argument is that they should have had a staff of professionals who's experience would spot the similarity to a speech by the first lady I would agree. But allow me to offer this one caveat to that assertion. If the boss is expecting you to do a professional job but then fails to provide you with the resources to do the job, he shouldn't have an expectation of a high level of professionalism.

I just read his tweet was that Melina's speech got more publicity than any other in the history of politics.

I had to double check for the checkmark to make sure it wasn't from a parody account. Does that mean that Michelle Obama's speech got more publicity than even the Gettysburg Address?

I missed this at first. It's on Trump Organization letterhead. Employees are corporate resources which may not be legally used in campaigns. Amateur hour again.
That's a stretch in this case.

But it reminds me, we haven't seen much news on that July 15th FEC report yet.
