At this point a story like this doesn't even make me blink anymore. I hear that parts of Melania's speech were lifted from Michelle's and I think, yeah that's par for the course. Not the first speech or Op-Ed or even campaign slogan Trump and Co. cribbed from someone else.

If they had plagiarized another Republican, it's gets a passing mention and everyone moves on. The fact that it was Michelle Obama makes it stand out from their usual incompetence.

You know Donald feverishly reviewed it thinking, "What does it say about me?" Without considering how little it actually says about him despite being a collection of platitudes about him. What's not said is very telling.

I just caught this on Deutsche Welle (starved for news stations here) and they played both speeches simultaneously. Hilarious.

The German commentator stated that she might have been trying to make a political statement about how it doesn't matter what you say, it's the way you say it, before wryly noting that no-one would believe that.

Just seen a YouTube comment - among a lot of good ones parodying her speech, and of course quite a few other ones involving Trump supporters making racist comments or threatening rape (not that this is limited to Trump supporters, YouTube really does bring out the scum in people) -

Also claimed that he did not know that the great pumpkin was going to call into Faux News and pre-empt coverage of the mother of a person that died in Benghazi. Hiding a lie by telling truth.

That's what politics has become: fluffy platitudes, without depth. The people will simply interpret them however they have already decided to, and invest them with meaning that isn't there, according to their preconceived ideas and biases. Thus you can stand before a selected audience and say "blah blah blah" and they will find it the greatest speech ever because they aren't actually looking for you to say anything, you just need to stand there and be the vessel for their own notions. And if you fail in achieving anything it's not your fault, it's the fault of the others who are against whatever it is they imagined you were for.

It's really a golden age for sociopaths to get into politics. It's like the idiot populace is just panting to hand power to the first person to call them pretty!

Unfortunately this is exactly the problem. She used "common words" She should 've asked Donald to let her use some of his "words" He has got "great words" Doesnt she listen to him? He's said that himself.
