Bullish on Bernie: The Bernie Sanders 2016 Thread II

Your non sequitur is a bit bold, don't you think?

Not at all.

Zeitgeist meaning (spirit of the age or spirit of the time) is the dominant set of ideals and beliefs that motivate the actions of the members of a society in a particular period in time.

It is highly doubtful that a third party candidate will win the 2016 election. So when you say that HRC won't be elected because she doesn't fit the Zeitgeist of 2016, it is only reasonable that you believe the GOP nominee does. A man who espouses values which I believe are a better fit for Germany when it elected Adolf Hitler as Chancellor.

Im assuming you believe that Trump's views are a better reflection of the Zeitgeist of the United States in 2016.

Yes or No?

I'm saying that against the apparent high probability of Killary being the next POTUS, I think it will not happen. You can call me on this when she is crowned, saying "everyone knew it", but that statement has nothing to do with anything about Trump.

Of course it does. Unless you believe a third party candidate will against all probability win? Or you believe the GOP will Dump Drumpf perhaps?

Hey, I supported Joe Biden in the primaries of 2004 and 2008 so it's not like everyone agrees with me.

But I'm not coy with my answers. Something I believe is evident in your posts. Frankly, I believe this is a duplicitous. A desire to smear as opposed to courageously supporting a position.

It's always easier to curse the darkness than lighting a candle

I cannot believe some of the Sanders' supporters on social media. There are those who go from Sanders straight over to Trump (missing the point completely). Then there are some who insist this is all part of Bernie's plan to grab the nomination by pretending to play nice and then ??? Profit.

I saw this phenomenon with Nader in 2000. But Nader went first. Still, outside of a few zealots I doubt many Bernie supporter will be jumping to Trump. They may vote third party, but Trump doesn't really reflect their positions. Trump wants to eliminate Obamacare and offers no alternative and he certainly hasn't expressed support for universal health insurance. I also haven't heard him say he supports reducing the costs of college. As for the minimum wage not only does he not support a hike but believe it is presently too high.

The ones that would go running from Bernie to the Donald are raving morons.

Jesus Christ what did people expect was gonna happen after Clinton clinched the nomination?

I think a lot of people were strongly overestimating exactly how far "outside the mainstream" Sanders was.

He joined the Democratic Party to legitimize his presidential bid. Was he ever not endorsing the candidate that the Democratic Party choose ever really an option anyone seriously considered?

A lot of people are acting as if Sanders ran as a straight up independent and he's betrayed some "cause."

You missed out your "so".

That would be the Implicit Rule of So Fallacy. Or the Rule of Implicit So, to be more accurate.

And that is a mainstay of the sophists, making it quite acceptable in nitpick circles.

Reading through some of the Tweets earlier from the die-hard Bernie or No One crowd, one does notice that the people who re-tweeted various posts are the same handful. I think the remnants of the Bernie Squad are like the Paulistas, sound and fury signifying nothing.

How pathetic to see Dr. Jill Stein in some of those exchanges begging for support.

I seen some republicans claiming he betrayed his cause. Concern trolling much?

I know, I know, it does not fit strict definition of concern trolling. They usually do not pretend to be bernie supportes (except of one certain poster here that don't even bother with this lying for Jesus Republican Party anymore anyway), but it is still very disingenuous comment.

Gary Johnsom supporters and people from a movement called Socialist Alternative have been coming onto the Bernie Sanders Facebook pages in order to woo his supporters.
