New Disclosures on Benghazi - Part II

Here's what I bet they'll find out: terrorists did it. Could be wrong, but that's where I'm betting the guilt lies.

I was going to make a sarcastic post about how, despite Obama stating the day after the attack that it was terrorists, Republicans are still claiming that he lied about it, but 16.5 beat me to it.

No new evidence yet some talking head is on CNN claiming Clinton lied to the family members and no wonder no one trusts Clinton.

Trey Gowdy's making the rounds now still repeating the nonsense that the State Department blamed the video, because ... lies. IOW the GOP is going to stick to their initial BS narrative despite the fact they found no evidence of some purposeful plot to cover up terrorism still occurring.

Susan Rice:

But based on the best information we have to date, what our assessment is as of the present is in fact what began spontaneously in Benghazi as a reaction to what had transpired some hours earlier in Cairo where, of course, as you know, there was a violent protest outside of our embassy — sparked by this hateful video. But soon after that spontaneous protest began outside of our consulate in Benghazi, we believe that it looks like extremist elements, individuals, joined in that– in that effort with heavy weapons of the sort that are, unfortunately, readily now available in Libya post-revolution. And that it spun from there into something much, much more violent.

Hillary Clinton:

Clinton: Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind.

Somebody is lying and it ain't Trey Gowdy

Remember when Mitt Romney was trying to claim that Obama didn't call it an act of terrorism in the debates. And then Obama, was all please proceed, governor. Good times.

LOL

It is amazing to me that Republicans like 16.5 even pretend that they care about Benghazi for reasons besides attempting to hurt Obama and Hillary.

Remember when Obama lied that he had called it "terrorism."

Kroft: Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya attack.

Obama: Right.

Kroft: Do you believe that this was a terrorist attack?

Obama: Well, it’s too early to know exactly how this came about, what group was involved, but obviously it was an attack on Americans and we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sure that we bring these folks to justice one way or the other.

Too early?

It is pretty sad that Republicans are still running with this. It made Romney look like a fool 4 years ago, but it sure looks worse to still be making these claims.

The report also found that a State official brought up a question about whether Marines should wear civilian clothing instead of their uniforms. Under secretary of State for management Patrick Kennedy told investigators he wanted to ensure that security was enhanced, not hurt by flags on the uniforms of any U.S. military presence.

But, one commander told the committee that as they were readying themselves to deploy they kept having to change in and out of their uniforms four times.

The military never deployed to Benghazi.

Well, that's important to know, isn't it ?

God forbid we have any future disagreements about whether troops should be overt or more covert.

And, best of all, it clearly shows both Obamas and Clintons guilt.:thumbsup:

I notice over at the Twitters Shillaries are complaining about the seven million price tag for the investigation, while failing to note that much of that was incurred trying to get the Administration to cooperate, and that about 2.5 million of that was spent by the minority waterboys in what should disclosed as in kind giving to the Hillary Campaign.

The $7 million was spent on the 8th investigation which came to the same conclusion as the previous 7 investigations. Blaming Democrats for the Republican-lead investigation is quite the display of partisanship.

What? Here is a direct quote of the opening paragraph: "Ending one of the longest, costliest and most bitterly partisan congressional investigations in history, the House Select Committee on Benghazi issued its final report on Tuesday, finding no new evidence of culpability or wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton in the 2012 attacks in Libya that left four Americans dead."

As to the server, how useful will you and other Republicans find that when the FBI doesn't recommend indictment over it? Will the $7 million have been worth yet another partisan witch-hunt?

The server is problematic even if she doesn't get indicted:

"The latest batch of emails suggest that Clinton's filter to decide between the personal and the professional was far from foolproof. That these emails never saw the light of day before Monday — or before a conservative legal advocacy group petitioned for their release — opens up the possibility that there are plenty more like them that Clinton chose to delete but shouldn't have. And it provides more fodder for the Republican argument that Clinton appointing herself as judge, jury and executioner for her emails was, at best, a very, very bad decision and, at worst, something more nefarious than just bad judgment.
"

...

"But revelations like Monday's — a chunk of previously undisclosed emails that are clearly professional in nature — lend further doubt to the story Clinton had told about why she set up a private server and how she handled it after leaving office. For a candidate already struggling to convince voters she is honest and trustworthy enough to be president, stories like this one are deeply problematic."

Chris Cilliza is hardly a right-wing demagogue.

This isn't very clear. What do they mean "final report"? They didn't come to right conclusion. Can't there be yet another committee put together for another $7 million to come up with a different result?

The server has jack **** to do with the Benghazi report other than you just showed what the important part was. It wasn't to find out the truth about those deaths. The Republicans couldn't give a ****, it was about damaging Hillary. You must be so proud.

Summer, 2014: State Department officials responding to a request for documents from the House Select Committee on Benghazi realize there are no records to or from an official State Department e-mail account for Clinton.
