New Disclosures on Benghazi - Part II

Rule of So!

Although the Administration, Clinton and the sleazy waterboys on the Minority Committee have done everything they can to thwart this committee, I suspect that this will be the last and only remotely thorough investigation.

That's a good band name.

Sorry 16.5- I suspect the Republican report on Ms. Clinton must be very disappointing to you despite all their efforts. I gather from your posts here that the only report you would consider accurate and honest would have, by definition, found otherwise. At least you still have her use of her own email server, which is true, as consolation.

What? Here is a direct quote of the opening paragraph: "Ending one of the longest, costliest and most bitterly partisan congressional investigations in history, the House Select Committee on Benghazi issued its final report on Tuesday, finding no new evidence of culpability or wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton in the 2012 attacks in Libya that left four Americans dead."

NoahFence is quicker to catch on than you.

As to the server, how useful will you and other Republicans find that when the FBI doesn't recommend indictment over it?

It has already been useful. It has contributed to Hillary Clinton's well-deserved reputation for being dishonest and corrupt. If there is no indictment, it will be useful evidence that there is one set of laws for regular people and a completely different one (or none at all) for powerful people.

Will the $7 million have been worth yet another partisan witch-hunt?

It has already been well worth it. I'm actually shocked that so much could be accomplished for so little money. A big law firm can bill that much in a single month for a complicated civil case. In this case, the Democratic members of the committee were acting like the opposing party, so the proper comparison is to the amount that two big law firms can bill for a complicated civil case.

You seem to be measuring its value in terms of how much damage it's done to Hillary. Is that what Congress is all about. That's a rhetorical question - of course it is to the modern conservative.

And that, avid readers, is a summary of sunmaster14 skepticism.

If there is no indictment, it's simply because Clinton has special laws.

We all know that this latest investigation has been a partisan attack on Clinton. Finding new evidence of wrongdoing by Clinton is the entire raison d'être of the commision, so failure to do so is accurately summed up in NoahFence's original synopsis.

Ah, a partisan witch-hunt has been useful for a smear campaign with little basis in facts, and when there is no indictment, it will be useful for a conspiracy theory. I think we have differing definitions of useful.

It has certainly tanked the hopes of McCarthy for Speaker, as well as shown Gowdy to be a laughingstock. It has also shown how vacuous the claims of Republicans have been about pretty much everything Benghazi. But I think $7 mill is a large cost for that.

Most of them have already played that card in the email thread.

There is little to differentiate between right wingers and CTists, other then perceived intelligence of the former. Wait, there really are no differences.

here are the Top Five Takeaways from the Benghazi report that was issued this morning:

U.S. failed to protect Americans in Benghazi

As expected (and despite the screeching partisan nagging of the Clinton waterboys on the minority side) the report is very even handed and very fact based.

Hilariously, on the Twitter this morning I noted that the New York Times went with this ridiculous lede:

House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton

Just the old wrongdoing then, NYT? :D

So all the HDS pinheads can let their auto-complete go back to filling in Ben Gay? Seems a wonderful waste of a meme. Someone should go do a clip of all the Republicans answering.... "Bu... bu... Benghazi." Maybe put it to music... to the tune of K - K - K Katy?

Do you think that the words "new" and "by Hillary Clinton" were inaccurate? Or that the goal of the committee wasn't originally to find some dirt on Ms. Clinton to release during the run up to the election? Or do you in fact believe that the majority on the committee was indeed only seeking the truth so that future mistakes can be avoided?

Yes, No, yes.

This was extremely shocking to learn, and even more shocking to see none of the people shouting from the mountain tops that THAT WILL BE THE REPORT! are retracting their statements. Just a bump in the road and on to the next opportunity to take a dig at Hillary. The GOP is truly in a pathetic state, and this just drives the nail into the coffin deeper. Almost everything they've tried has blown up their face. That stupid government shutdown, the multiple Benghazi committees, and the list goes on. When will someone try to take the lead, and dig them out of that hole. It's getting brutal to watch.

I about went into an epileptic fit when one of the republicans (can't remember which) had the audacity to accuse the democrats of obstruction with a straight face.

Proposed Annpendix by Two Congressman

Clinton Put “Politics Ahead of People” In New Benghazi Report

The Pompeo-Jordan proposed additional views contain the following five core conclusions:

1. Secretary Clinton did not make every effort to ensure the Americans being sent to Libya were safe, a project she has full ownership of from start to finish. They were inadequately protected and their requests for help fell on deaf ears.

2. Following the attack, the administration misled the public about the events of that night in Benghazi. The State Department and Secretary Clinton learned quickly that this was a terrorist attack, but rather than be square with the American people and risk losing an election, they opted to blame a video-inspired protest that never happened.

3. Our government did not move heaven and earth to rescue our people. The American people expect that our leaders will do whatever is necessary to save our people when things go wrong. We now know the U.S. military never reached Benghazi and the government never directed men or machines to enter the fight there.

4. The administration broke its promise to bring those responsible to justice. Now four years after the attack, only one person has been arrested and was brought to America before proper interrogation took place.

5. The administration never had a sincere interest in helping the Committee and working with us to find the truth. It was politics, deceit and deception.

You think they should have had an angrier face about the Democrats and Obama's clear record of obstruction?

It's important for the current and any future investigations to take a long, hard look at previous investigations, as well as the original incident. That way, you never run out of things to investigate.

There's a beautiful flowering effect as the scope of the investigation expands like an amazing blossom to put the whole incident in the proper historical context, including investigating the institutions involved, policies and funding, and then it stretches outward to examine the aftermath, both near and long term. Truly a wonderful thing to watch. A phenomenal bouquet of bureaucratic content creation. Have we reached a million pages yet?

Here's what I bet they'll find out: terrorists did it. Could be wrong, but that's where I'm betting the guilt lies.

Huh, should have shared that little nugget with Hillary and Obama when they were lying about the cause in September of 2012.
