Syria and UN Security Council Decision

Finally one of the false flag operations of our nice moderate friends the Syrian "rebels" - and the complicity of "Western" press in parroting something that fits a convenient narrative - has been revealed and acknowledged. Namely the Richard Engel/NBC team kidnapping. Glenn Greenwald has the summary:

NBC’s Conduct in Engel Kidnapping Story is More Troubling than the Brian Williams Scandal

Glenn Greenwald said:
[...] In December 2012 – as the pro-intervention cause was strengthening – a group of five journalists working for NBC News, including its star international reporter Richard Engel, was kidnapped inside Syria. They were held for five days, threatened with death, treated inhumanely, and forced to record a video in which Engel was made to call for an end to U.S. involvement in Syria. Scrawled on the walls of the room where the video was recorded was graffiti of pro-Assad messages along with well-known Shiite references.

The obvious intent was to make it appear that these NBC journalists had been kidnapped and mistreated by Shiite forces associated with Assad. By all accounts, the kidnappers went to great lengths to make their hostages believe that as well, and they succeeded. Engel and his fellow captives believed (understandably) they had been kidnapped by pro-Assad forces, only to be rescued by brave and kind Sunni rebels who freed them. Once they were released, NBC said at first that the journalists had been “kidnapped and held for five days inside Syria by an unknown group,” but Engel quickly gave numerous interviews unequivocally stating that the captors were aligned with Assad and that he was rescued by anti-Assad forces. That then became unquestioned fact on NBC. [...]

In a very well-reported article this morning, the NYT states that “Mr. Engel’s team was almost certainly taken by a Sunni criminal element affiliated with the Free Syrian Army, the loose alliance of rebels opposed to Mr. Assad.” That rebel group is “known as the North Idlib Falcons Brigade” and is “led by two men, Azzo Qassab and Shukri Ajouj.” Amazingly, NBC executives knew that this was at least very possible even during Engel’s kidnapping, [...]

As Greenwald elaborates in the article, there has been ample reason to question this story even if one hadn't access to insider information like NBC had. One red flag was that the first "interview" Engel did about the events was to an already well-known fraudster named Khaled Abu Saleh - who should have been known to NBC/Engel as well, so people who called it back then and can now brag that they scooped the MSM by 28 months give Engel himself less credit than Greenwald/NYT do so far.

Be that as it may, it shows how far these people go with their "Shiite slogans" and fake Assad worship and even fake execution (if Engel is to be believed) schemes. And real murders, like in Houla where survivors reported that the killers wore "Shia slogans on their foreheads" and chanted for Assad as well. And the abuse of children for "doctored" videos like in other instances with Saleh, and not unlikely in the Ghouta incident.

And the worst thing: it's still going on, and "the West" is still buying, like in this recent alleged Chlorine gas/"Barrel Bombs" story that stinks to high heaven and has connections to the same Idlib region-based fraudster gangs, yet is again reported by the likes of AI/Doctors without Borders/HRW as if it were gospel.

Considering the prize - decisive western involvement at its highest, moral and material support otherwise - it would be amazing if things were otherwise.

get ready for a massacre/genocide in Latakia.

There are not many people in the world who hold a lot of warm wishes for a dictatorship that goes out of it's way to mass murder civilians (like it did again today). However, the alternative may be worse.

Assad’s hold on power looks shakier than ever as rebels advance in Syria
...The revival of rebel fortunes is attributed to a large degree to the recent rapprochement between a newly assertive Saudi Arabia and its erstwhile rivals for influence over the rebels — Turkey and Qatar.

Since inheriting the throne in January, Saudi King Salman has moved forcefully to challenge the expanding regional influence of Iran, Saudi Arabia’s biggest foe, most publicly by embarking on an air war against Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. He has also acted to shore up the flagging and deeply divided rebels in Syria, in coordination with Qatar and Turkey, Khashoggi said.

The result has been an unexpectedly cohesive rebel coalition called the Army of Conquest that is made up of al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra, an assortment of mostly Islamist brigades and a small number of more moderate battalions. The coalition, which launched last month, has proved more effective than expected.

After seizing most of Idlib province in recent weeks, the rebels are pressing south toward the government strongholds of Hama and Homs and are threatening the *Assad family’s coastal heartland of Latakia. A separate, more moderate rebel coalition has been making swift advances in the south, challenging government control over the key provincial capital of Daraa and making progress north toward Damascus.

Just as significantly, government forces have been proving increasingly ineffective. The collapse of two much-trumpeted offensives earlier this year, in southern Syria and in Aleppo, presaged the success of the recent rebel offensives, suggesting that even if the government can remain in control in Damascus, its chances of regaining the rest of the country are slipping.

Assad should not have been so dismissive to peace talks even when their allies the Russians tried to come to a solution. The situation has only been getting worse for the regime, and that is not going to change anytime soon unless there is a major foreign intervention in the country.

Saudi Arabia is out for blood in their proxy war with Iran, and they are not about to give up easily. Directly working with Al-Qaeda could easily backfire for them though.

As bad as Syria is, it could be about to get a whole lot worse.

Business as usual:

The Obama administration does not want peace in Syria. The Russians finally have to admit to themselves that the U.S. is no partner for a continuation of a cease fire, a coordinated attack against the Islamic State and al-Qaeda and for peace in Syria. Indeed, as Lavrov explains, the U.S. has again asked to spare al-Qaeda from Russian air strikes even as two UN Security Council resolutions demand its eradication. Huge supply convoys (vid) from Turkey are again going to the "rebels" who will, as always, share them with al-Qaeda and other terrorists. [...]

It's that Hillary Clinton supporting Al Qaeda and Al Nusra again and her telling the Russians not to bomb Al-Nusra like she did in Libya, along with the backing of Britain and America and France and Ukraine, if not Israel. It's only because they are obeying the orders of that mad Sultan in Turkey and his war of aggression on the Kurds.

Meanwhile Europe and the UK, and even America and Canada, has to face a refugee crisis because of all this with thousands fleeing and drowning in the sea.
It's like protecting the IRA and Boko Haram and saying they are freedom fighters when they do some car bombing.

I suppose Hillary wants another 9/11 from Saudi Arabia so that she can then bomb Iran. It's want of judgment.

Henri, Canada accepted 25,000 refugees over a period of 4 months in an orderly fashion. Mostly families. Most are now in permanent housing, employed and getting established as part of Canadian society. For us, it has not been a crisis. Other nations have not been so lucky as Canada, which have had to deal with 10s of thousands of refugees without the luxury of space and time. All the while a civil war wages in Syria started because Bashir did not want to surrender the hold his family took on Syria.

Hillary Clinton has not been Secretary of state for about four years now. Why do you think she has something to do with this?
