We're going to miss Obama

I can only speak for myself. I use it as a way of communicating that in my view, progressive positions have a way of winning out in the end, while regressive positions eventually die out. It's the nature of progress.

Yes, that is one of the meanings I outlined earlier, and it makes sense.

It's just that when someone says "reality" I usually take it to mean "the universe" or "physics". Social progress is a bit of a softer 'reality'. :)

I don't think you are meant to take it absolutely literally. At least when I say it. That's the way it is with truisms.

I find that very hard to believe. In any case, slaughtering people to prevent slaughtering people is just stupid.
You find it very hard to believe that Gaddafi was going to keep doing what he was doing until it worked? You think taking out military targets of a crazy dictator who is slaughtering and raping his own people is slaughter? I'm clearly dealing with someone who thinks about these things deeply...
Do you not even see the irony in that statement?!
No I don't. You think the people they were trying to save and the people who were killing for Gaddafi are equally innocent? Are you even marginally connected to reality through the invention of news?
Yes. I think that creating instability in the region helped fuel the rise of ISIS. I wasn't aware that was a controversial opinion.
That's like saying supporting Israel, fighting terrorism in Somalia, and helping East Timor created al-Qaeda. As in, they wouldn't exist, wouldn't be doing stuff without those actions? As in the meaning of the word created.
There are no "good guys". Do you really have such a cartoonish view of the world? You can just label people as "good" or "bad"?
At the end of the day, the US are the good guys, and Saddam was the bad guy. I have no problem saying this. I don't follow the same political cult as you apparently. Which isn't as serious as it pretends to be when you follow it's logic, is it? Give me one reason why the US are bad guys.

I'll tell you what. I am not going to miss the only president in history not to preside over 3% real GDP growth in his entire administration.

Right now, the nation is probably already in a recession. The BEA's first estimate of 4Q2015 RGDP growth was only 0.69%, and there is mounting evidence that this will later be revised downward. However, making the wildly optimistic assumption that 2016 RGDP growth will come in at the CBO's current forecast (2.67%), Obama will be the only U.S. president in history that did not deliver a single year of 3.0%+ economic growth.

Again, assuming 2.67% RGDP growth for 2016, Obama will leave office having produced an average of 1.55% growth. This would place his presidency fourth from the bottom of the list of 39*, above only those of Herbert Hoover (-5.65%), Andrew Johnson (-0.70%) and Theodore Roosevelt (1.41%)

The asterisk notes that there have been 44 Presidents, but only 39 presidencies because of death. For example, William Henry Harrison and John Tyler were two Presidents, but only one presidency.

Note to those wishing to forgive Obama because he inherited a lousy economy (and he did): FDR delivered 3% economic growth in his second year in office:

The longest previous such run in U.S. economic history was only four years, and the last time that this happened was during the Great Depression (1930 - 1933).

Not. Left wingersmay disagree with some of his policies though.

Yes, it depends on whether you want ideological purity for your candidate or one who will is electable and can achieve *something*

Personally, I don't think that being pure but out of power is useful.

Obama has achieved a fair bit, and even more, prevented Palin from being in a position of influence.

Anybody is entitled to their own opinion of President Obama, but when you make the claim that he is the "laughing stock of the world" you are simply factually wrong, and you really should look up a few opinion polls about how Obama is viewed in the world.

Then you can either stop making that claim, or you're a liar.

All the people who think that Obama is a laughing stock, please answer the question, "Do you think Putin is respected around the world"?

My prediction is 95% of you would say yes. Am I wrong? I'm obviously right ffs.

I was going for the opposite of laughingstock.

You know...

Compared to

Globally, Obama’s image is mostly positive. Across the 40 countries polled, a median of 65% say they have confidence in Obama to do the right thing in world affairs. A median of just 27% lack confidence in the American leader.

Someone tried to tell me that because Obama has low approval ratings in his home country and Putin has high ratings in his country, this means that Obama is not very respected. This person had no grasp on reality, obviously.

Of course, FDR didn't have to deal with a Congress attempting to block his every move.

Neither did Obama. FDR did have to deal with a Supreme Court attempting to block his every move, whereas in Obama's case, it caved much more easily.

:jaw-dropp

Come on man. The people doing the obstructing SAID they were going to obstruct, and then did just that.

Stop denying simple facts. Makes you look stupid.
