We're going to miss Obama

Right because the US completely controls global political movements, they should have allowed the genocide in Libya and should have subjected US troops to Iraqi law, that was all obvious stuff anyone could have figured out, Jesus.

I think that the US should quit thinking it's world cop. (And I mean "cop" in the same way that Judge Dredd is a "cop".)

I've always thought that was a stupid argument because the US military is so powerful, with such projection, and with so many allies, and there are so many bad actors in the world, the idea that they wouldn't intervene when they thought they could do more good than harm would be more shocking than if they screwed up from time to time.

Generally people say that we should have invaded North Korea by now if that was the real reason, this proves they don't know what they are talking about.

If you give me a choice between

a) Taking out Gaddafi

b) Not taking out Gaddafi

I will choose

c) Taking out Gaddafi and working harder to build stability and democracy and rationality in that country.

Then I will ask you why you think allowing the genocide would have been better than c.

It's the sharpshooter fallacy. US military projection has done a lot of good since 2001. The world would be a better place with Saddam and Gaddafi in power? Remember when Gaddafi gave up his WMD cache after the Iraq invasion?

People have to argue for doing nothing, and how that would have been better, not just say that look it didn't work out, that is facile beyond comprehension.

The implication being? Oh that's right, we should be in war with Libya and Egypt as well according to conservative ideology.
Makes great sense if you want to profiteer off a war and kill off/ruin the rest of their lives of a goodly number of younger voters in the process. Republicker wet dream that is!!!!!:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp

The fact that you believe Obama is the "laughing stock of the world" is staggering. Absolutely staggering.

Even if you think he should be; it's amazing you can be so ill informed as to believe he is.

Staggering and amazing! I'm happy I astound you so.

Syria and the line in the sand.

Russia repeatedly buzzing our ships and planes with their own jets.

Iran thumbing their nose, launching rockets within a few thousand feet of our ships. Building a memorial for the captured soldiers. Parading them around.

China boldly putting military installations on disputed islands.

These countries are all laughing at him - at us. The guy is a foreign relations dolt. He has weakened our standing in the international community. But hey, not everyone thinks so, I'm sure you are right about that.

Many world leaders believe that he is a laughing stock, it's evident by their actions. This is what's important and it's what I meant.

But I could just amend my original statement and be done with it.

It's funny how a group of people can see a great man where others see a dishonest, wimpy, divisive, economy ruining laughing stock of the world of many many world leaders.

King Abdullah was not a Muslim?

So, you've gone from:

Muslim Kings the world over will miss his bows.

"Kings the world over"........to king (singular). All that without any embarrassment, and without explaining why manners and protocols are a bad thing. How about if a head of state refused to shake the US president's hand? How would that be?

It's the difference between looking at reality and the fun house mirror known as the right wing media.

Reality does have a liberal bias. Sorry.

See what I mean, mindlessly parroting the right wing fun house.

Sorry that he didn't send enough young Americans ot their death in a senseless war

The democratically-elected leader of the country with the largest Muslim population on Earth grew up a metalhead in a riverbank slum, dude.

I'll take the choice that doesn't involve killing people.

Then I will ask you why you think allowing the genocide would have been better than c.

Because we aren't killing people. I think that killing people is wrong.

It's the sharpshooter fallacy. US military projection has done a lot of good since 2001.

The sharpshooter fallacy is drawing a target around your hit, which is what it looks like you're doing.

The world would be a better place with Saddam and Gaddafi in power? Remember when Gaddafi gave up his WMD cache after the Iraq invasion?

The world is better off with ISIS?

People have to argue for doing nothing, and how that would have been better, not just say that look it didn't work out, that is facile beyond comprehension.

There are other alternatives besides "doing nothing". I think that the US should work with the UN. Isn't this kind of thing what the UN was created for?

Do you support vigilantism? If there's a guy on your block who is the strongest and has the most guns, does he get to start enforcing the law in your neighborhood? Or do you think the police should do it?

I am pretty reasonably sure I have the most guns in my neighborhood, but I have no interest in using them stupidly like that.

I'll take the choice that doesn't involve killing people.
It involves allowing thousands to be slaughtered when you are the only one who can stop it, not addressing this is asinine and moral cowardice.

Because we aren't killing people. I think that killing people is wrong.
Even when you are saving innocent lives by killing them? That's stupid.

Wow are you saying all humans are biased?

The world is better off with ISIS?
You think American invasion created ISIS? Wrong sub forum.

Well, our friends Russia and China aren't exactly super reputable and reliable.

Do you support vigilantism? If there's a guy on your block who is the strongest and has the most guns, does he get to start enforcing the law in your neighborhood? Or do you think the police should do it?
Obama runs the US. They are the good guys.

Barely worth my contemplation... do you honesty think all of this stuff through all the way?

She's the head of state of several countries, actually. How is that not a leader?

She does not give opinions or get involved in politics (as made clear by Royal sources). She is simply a symbol of the government, not a real participant in it.

It involves allowing thousands to be slaughtered when you are the only one who can stop it, not addressing this is asinine and moral cowardice.

I find that very hard to believe. In any case, slaughtering people to prevent slaughtering people is just stupid.

Even when you are saving innocent lives by killing them? That's stupid.

Do you not even see the irony in that statement?!

You think American invasion created ISIS? Wrong sub forum.

Yes. I think that creating instability in the region helped fuel the rise of ISIS. I wasn't aware that was a controversial opinion.

Obama runs the US. They are the good guys.

There are no "good guys". Do you really have such a cartoonish view of the world? You can just label people as "good" or "bad"?
