All this talk about Trump running as an independent: How, exactly? Ballot access rules are complex and vary by state. Some states, like Florida, Texas and Indiana require filing before the GOP convention (July 18-21). Others (like California) require huge numbers of signatures, and still others have complicating requirements (Arizona requires 3% of voters not affiliated with a party, while New York requires at least 100 voters from each congressional district).

Getting on the ballot in more than one state is quite a challenge.

His support for Kelo is probably a deal-breaker with them. More important, their convention is in late May.

You are forgetting that being staunch supporters of the 2nd Amendment, half of them are probably going to be carrying guns.

If my earlier noted preference does not happen that would be a perfect second choice. But I would want beating each other with chairs and other furniture or equipment!!!!!!!

I think the party predicts something like that could happen too which is why they probably cannot do anything too radical. It seems that Cruz is pretty unpopular too, so they might prefer Trump. Rubio doesn't look like winning anything and Kasich surely has not done enough to justify selection. No, I think they will just have to go with Trump.

These are "real" Americans, so with a Constitutional and either Biblical or Bubba-lical right to impose. I look forward to some serious next-day schadenfreude.
