What will happen at the 2016 Republican Convention? Who will be the nominee?

Rubio will drop out after not winning Florida. Kasich will win Ohio and stay in the race though. This leads to a brokered convention with Cruz getting the nom. Trump runs as an independent.

Still hard to call. Ether Trump will be the nominee (and will change his messaging by then so the GOP can pretend he's really a good guy), or Cruz will be and Trump will run as independent, either way making the past year of drama pointless as the Dems win the whitehouse anyway.

ETA: I shouldn't say pointless, as it will be an important milestone in the reorganization of the republican party.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will storm the convention, and the GOP will go into November elections with a Death - Pestilence ticket.

And there will be folks who argue that it should have been a Death-War ticket, as Pestilence just doesn't bring enough economic stimulus to the job.

Thanks. I mean it. You just made me "vote" for Trump.

I think Cruz's best chances are behind him, and the attacks on Trump have backfired enough to mean they won't do the job intended. A brokered convention is possible, but I think that if Trump has a plurality going in, any result that is not him as candidate will split the party. Since no candidate seems all that promising, perhaps best for the party to grin and bear along with Trump. After Florida and Ohio, we shall see.

Well, that argument also leaves Famine right out.

He may run as an independent.

Yeah, famine definitely needs to be in it -- global warming and all. I think it'll be war and famine, actually. Death'll be the campaign manager. I'm not sure how pestilence will amuse himself. Foreign policy?

War and Famine on the ticket, Pestilence as campaign manager to cast a pox on both their houses, and Death as foreign-policy advisor since they're all so keen on carpet-bombing as a solution.

Glad we've got that sorted.

Brokered convention and Mitt Romney wins. I'm not sure if Trump will run indy or not.

I disagree about Romney, I think that Kasich is more likely as a compromise candidate.. Romney is too much damaged goods.

Trump will be thrown out of the convention for using foul language. He will then select Carly Fiorina as his running mate and run as an independent. Cruz and Rubio will gay marry and attempt to conceive the perfect Republican candidate using the power of prayer. The Republican establishment will beg Romney to come back and run, while ignoring Jeb's feeble offers to step back into the race. Sarah Palin will throw her hat into the ring, whereupon McCain will throw it right back out again. The convention will end with no candidates chosen, and several dozen people will have died and been cannibalized during the ruckus. A second convention will be held in which darkhorse candidate Euron Greyjoy secures the nomination by dubious means.

With Trump sucking up the majority of news coverage, it's overlooked that Cruz is even more disliked by party brass. Trump has a better chance of coming out of a brokered convention as the nominee if he gets close enough to 50% of the delegates. Biden's even made hay about how abrasive Cruz is.

Joe Biden said:
Ted Cruz? An inspiration to every kid in America who worries that he’ll never be able to run for president because nobody likes him. He’s running. And look, I told Barack, if you really, really want to remake the Supreme Court, nominate Cruz. Before you know it, you’ll have eight vacancies.

Well, just about everybody who has had to work with Cruz dislikes him. Even those on the same political wavelength as Cruz consider him a prima donna, incredibly self righteous, and a pain in the butt.

I don't quite understand the wording in the last poll option. Didn't you already mention the four Horsemen in the first four options?
