Sometimes a disease goes away without a medical treatment.

You seem very attracted to the idea that it was the patient's being very close to death that started some sort of healing process. Please note: spontaneous recovery can occur when people are close to death but spontaneous recovery can also occur long before the patient is close to death.

..... read the references and see if that gets you on your way to finding out whether spontaneous remission can be induced.

As a side note, inducing spontaneous remission would likely not be natural, would that bother you?
 
Really, Kumar, the VERY FIRST question you need to ask about such stories of miracle cures is: ARE THE STORY TELLERS SAYING THE TRUTH?

Because it is remarkable how many times these miracle cure people do not tell the truth. They make up lies about everything so that they can get publicity and money. Their lies fool people who accept them. and think they are true.

So in this case, you really need to do some more research. I am betting you will find this person was never sick with cancer, she never went to hospital, she never had a near-death experience and she never had a miraculous cure. She made it all up as a story to fool gullible people.
 
We have been working for decades, trying to figure out exactly how cancer arises. It is very complex and much remains mysterious. Just as "spontaneous" getting cancer isn't entirely understood, so too with "spontaneous" remission. There are mysteries at each end.
 
As Norman says above... Often the facts of these cases are wildly misstated. Some years back, local TV did a segment on the "power of prayer".
They interviewed a fellow who had some sort of dreadful disease and was reportedly on death's door when he suddenly improved.
A family member said that this could only be explained by the power of prayer...

However, they also interviewed his physician who said that the fellow had been undergoing advanced chemotherapy all through the period....

Plainly then, chemotherapy does not interfere with the power of prayer.

How could I give an example of such an event when it is plainly impossible to explicitly establish how the mind is involved. All we have are claims. Some claims are robust, some are suspect. None can be definitively confirmed any more than any can be summarily dismissed. Lots of stupidity involved on both sides of the question.
