Why did Sarah Palin do so well? Oh golly, nothing to do with her beauty queen status, no - it was her intellect. A regular female William F. Buckley, lol.

If you put the ugly on old, and add mean, you've got Hillary.

Why Hillary wants to bury her ‘rah-rah’ Goldman speeches

Why Hillary wants to bury her ‘rah-rah’ Goldman speeches
Can't blame her, or could you?

Looks like we gave Hillary Clinton too much credit: The problem with her Goldman Sachs speeches isn’t just that she was kissy-kissy with CEO Lloyd Blankfein, as we assumed the other day — but that she was planting wet ones on the bank itself, indeed on the whole industry.

That praise was probably accurate — Wall Street is, after all, vital to the US economy. But it’s a record you don’t want exposed when you’re desperately trying to convince Democratic voters that you’ll be even tougher on the big banks than Bernie Sanders.

To be clear, Clinton still refuses to release the transcripts of her three Goldman speeches. But audience members have been leaking to Politico about what she said.

In one, it seems she used her time to praise the bank — at length. That speech “earned” her a whopping $225,000. (Her total for three gigs: $674,000.)

“It was pretty glowing about us,” one person who watched the event said. “It’s so far from what she sounds like as a candidate now. It was like a rah-rah speech. She sounded more like a Goldman Sachs managing director.”

She praised Goldman for raising capital and helping create jobs. Quite right — but, as another attendee noted, making her remarks public would “bury her against Sanders. It really makes her look like an ally of the firm.”

At another Goldman speech, she reportedly explained that the big banks weren’t the only ones to blame for the 2008 crisis — and said the bank-restricting Dodd-Frank law needs review.

True again — but also fodder for Bernie.

The Hillary campaign dismissed Politico’s reporting as “pure trolling” — implying that her Goldman speeches weren’t all about toadying to her hosts after all.

Funny: Saying just what your six-figure paymasters want to hear strikes us as the best way to get invited back for more boodle.

Like Goldilocks finding the perfect porridge, the leaks sound juuust right.

Of course, the campaign has an easy way of showing otherwise: Release the text, and let the voters judge for themselves.

That's a very old and/or flattering picture of Yulia Tymoshenko. These days she's a lot less glamourous.

A flattering picture of Cristina Kirchner too

Different supporters found different things to like about her. Some, no doubt, liked her because they didn't find her intellectually intimidating. Some would have been attracted to her firecracker reputation and views. It's impossible to establish what proportion is down to her appearance.

If you put the ugly on old, and add mean, you've got Hillary.

I'd rather have a competent, smart, candidate than a pretty one. I hope that the U.S. electorate aren't so shallow that, because someone pushing 70 isn't as pretty as a 40 year old, they will be swayed.

Justice Dept. subpoenas Clinton Foundation records:
Investigators with the State Department issued a subpoena to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation last fall seeking documents about the charity’s projects that may have required approval from the federal government during Hillary Clinton’s term as secretary of state, according to people familiar with the subpoena and written correspondence about it.

You're kidding, right? A big percentage of workers are in jobs that require limited experience, training or formal education, and consequently don't pay very well or have much security.

No, not kidding. The link gives no examples. There are tons of jobs that don't pay well or have much security that nevertheless require skills.

Jay Carney says Obama wants Clinton to win but won't come out officially until it's clear she'll be the nominee.

Jay Carney: Obama wants Clinton to win
"I think the president has signaled while still remaining neutral that he supports Secretary Clinton's candidacy and would prefer to see her as the nominee," Carney said on CNN Wednesday following coverage of the president's speech to the Illinois state Senate in Springfield.

Obama will not "officially embrace her unless and until it's clear she is going to be the nominee," Carney said.
"I think he is maintaining that tradition of not intervening in a party primary," he added. "But I don't think there is any doubt that he wants Hillary to win the nomination and believes she would be the best candidate in the fall and the most effective as president in carrying forward what he has achieved."

Latest poll reported on RCP, Clinton ahead by 16 in OK.

What examples do you need? Some jobs require extensive training and formal certification, whether in a classroom or a trade apprenticeship. "Unskilled" labor is basically work that someone can do after brief instruction on the job. A carpenter spends years mastering his trade; "hey you, carry those boards over there" is unskilled labor. A nurse spends years in training and earns a state license; a hospital orderly pushes a mop. Much of the work that our economy requires -- stocking store shelves, operating a cash register, flipping burgers, farm or construction labor, Amazon warehouse order picker -- is work that anybody can be trained to do quickly.

Exclusive: Former Obama Defense Intel Chief Says Hillary Should ‘Step Down’

http://dailycaller.com/2016/02/10/e...se-intel-chief-says-hillary-should-step-down/

This is the opinion of a former Obama DIA director;

<SNIP>

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation, Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn (Ret.) said he thought the former Secretary of State should leave the Democratic presidential race: ”I think Hillary Clinton, for the good of the country, should step down and let this FBI investigation play out.”

<SNIP>

Flynn and other high-ranking former intelligence officials told TheDCNF they are alarmed that some of the nation’s most highly classified documents contained in a secretive program called the Special Access Program (SAP) were transferred to Clinton’s unclassified home server.

The documents “had to be moved off electronically or removed out of the secure site physically, then it had to be put onto an unclassified email system,” Flynn said. “Someone who does this is completely irresponsible, but totally unaccountable and shows a streak of arrogance to the American public that is unworthy of anyone thinking they can run for President of the United States.”

“This is unbelievable,” Flynn said. “I don’t think anybody should be talking about her being potentially the next President of the United States.”

<SNIP>

When this whole thing surfaced I agreed that there was "probably nothing there." I no longer hold that opinion. I know for fact that the class of server she had was an easy target, and now I know that she exposed VERY sensitive intelligence to the public email system without encryption. You can argue, if you wish, that this is "another Benghazi," and I am certain that she would encourage that point of view, but I care deeply about the security of such things and I believe this ought to result in a felony prosecution and a conviction for same.

While I would be equally disturbed if this turns out to be an accurate portrayal of the facts, the Daily Caller does not inspire faith in this presentation. If the smoke indicates an actual fire rather than the more typical smoldering bag of conservaidiot feces there's plenty of time for a more serious examination of the issue.

The fellow quoted is a real person, and would have a totally valid opinion on this issue. DailyCaller is a right wing publication but is absolutely not a parody site or a fake news site. The reporter of the piece is a former producer of ABC's "Good Morning America"

He's the same person who recently stated that he thinks it was "a willfull decision" that the admin didn't hear the warnings of his agency in the 2012 DIA report stating that if they continue to support Islamist "rebels" in Syria, the region will end up with an autonomous "Islamist entity" in parts of Syria and Iraq - today known as "ISIS".

Re the Clinton Foundation:

After a fake charge by Fiorina misrepresenting the facts:
One independent philanthropy watchdog did an analysis of Clinton Foundation funding and concluded that about 89 percent of its funding went to charity.

Asked for some examples of the work it performs itself, the Clinton Foundation listed these:

Clinton Development Initiative staff in Africa train rural farmers and help them get access to seeds, equipment and markets for their crops.
Clinton Climate Initiative staff help governments in Africa and the Caribbean region with reforestation efforts, and in island nations to help develop renewable energy projects.
Staff at the Clinton Health Access Initiative, an independent, affiliated entity, work in dozens of nations to lower the cost of HIV/AIDS medicine, scale up pediatric AIDS treatment and promote treatment of diarrhea through life-saving Zinc/ORS treatment.
Clinton Health Matters staff work with local governments and businesses in the United States to develop wellness and physical activity plans.

Post-State Department

Several news organizations have noted the renewed flow of money from foreign governments to the Clinton Global Initiative after Hillary Clinton left the State Department in 2013. Most recently, Politico noted that a phosphate company owned by the Moroccan monarchy gave $1 million to fund the latest meeting taking place this May in Marrakech. The first international meeting of the global initiative was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil....

Foundation spokesman Craig Minassian said that now that Hillary Clinton is a candidate for president, the meeting in Marrakech will be the last one held on foreign soil for as long as she is running for the White House or becomes its next occupant. Minassian said that donations by foreign governments will also stop.

So here we have yet another investigation for people to throw accusations at Clinton when the only evidence of impropriety is accusation and innuendo.

Feb 3 Nevada DREAMers endorse Hillary Clinton for president
Local activist Astrid Silva and eight other DREAMers today endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, a little more than two weeks before the Nevada Democratic caucus.

Several DREAMers, including Silva, met with all the Democratic candidates and attended several of the Republican candidates’ events. But Silva and the other DREAMers said Clinton was the only candidate who convinced them she could actually do something to change U.S. immigration policy.

And note that this was while Secretary Clinton was in office.
