While there could be many reasons, here's one.

There has been speculation of her storming into Oval Office, and demanding Obama call off his dogs. To which he replied, he can not!
He recently gave an interview many saw as support for her.
Since she did at least two things that could have pissed him off!

One: continued relations with Sidney, who Obama barred from his administration.

Two: Using the cowboy server, giving the administration a black eye over transparency! Transparency being one of his pet issues.

Obama having an insider bit of information into the F.B.I. investigation began to lay this foundation of being chummy with her. So he would look above favoritism when she is finally charged, and convicted.

Face it if F.B.I. recommends charges and Obama stops them, he will end his tenure with an * historically. He may have also had the wrath of liberals if it looks like he was cool to her prosecution, because of earlier issues he may have had with her. Playing friendly, then letting the law handle it, he looks fair.

Thoughts?

Close, but a few of the details are not quite right.

First off, it wasn't dogs. They were sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.

Secondly, Obama is the Antichrist. The insider information he got was from Hell, not the FBI.

Thirdly, he won't end his tenure with an *, but with a ******* ******** of ******** **********!!!

NVM after reading article, it is nothing like what I have proposed.

“Yeah, well, I mean, I think if she becomes a threat then she gets indicted like Petraeus was,” Gohmert responded. “You know, they’ve got the evidence, if they want to use it, then they can. But they obviously look the other way if you’re helping them, if you’re intimidating voters that may be Republican at a polling place then you walk, despite the laws you violate. It’s what this administration has done. They support those that help them even when they’re breaking the law.”

I've no idea what they are on about here.

Possible reasons they are chummy couldn't possibly include working together for the same organisation for decades, sharing the same political outlook, being pleasant people in the same age group, and being colleagues at the top of government working on hugely important issues together for years with common aims and understandings, could it?

Nope. Doesn't make Hillary seem evil so it can't possibly be correct.

I want others thoughts here. It's what I asked for. I merely gave a possible option. Never claiming it to be the only possibility.

Enjoy!

And are you a reposting bot?

Just asking questions...thoughts anyone?

Since when was the president able to control who the FBI investigates and who is prosecuted? Seems to be a rather big oversight in the USA separation of powers.

Law enforcement is explicitly a power of the Executive branch., just as law creation is a power of the Legislative, and law adjudication is a power of the Judiciary. That's what separation of powers means, in the US.

All the federal government's lawyers, investigators, and cops answer ultimately to the president. The only power the other branches have over this is to judge legal claims against his decisions (Judiciary), and to impeach him for abusing his constitutional authority (Legislative).

I would find that quite frightnening, in the UK the government has no decision in who is prosecuted or investigated even though the prosecutors etc. are civil servants.

I think that without any evidence, this speculation amounts to nothing more than DC fanfic.

I especially like the part where she storms into the Oval Office. Do all former cabinet members have the power to brush past Secret Service agents and presidential staff, or does that power go only to former First Ladies?

ETA also, what's the deal with ending his tenure with an asterisk next to his name? Does that show up in history books? In the title of his Wikipedia page?

It's human nature to fear what we don't understand.

Just been reading up on it and it appears you are incorrect the president doesn't give orders to the FBI on who to investigate. It appears the claims that Obama could tell the FBI to not investigate Clinton or tell them to drop an ongoing investigation is more suited for the conspiracy section.
