80 Years of Subtle Sexism

We could solve this question by finding out which color razor blind people buy.

In my experience they have a friend pick one out for them and then fit it into a handle they already own that has a guide on it, ask the pharmacist or an employee to pick one for them, or have someone else shave them.

In other news, my razor is dark blue.

My razor has no color. My beard, however, is brown and white.

Sigh......think!!!! What's the difference between shaving your legs and shaving YOUR Face in the shower???? SORRY GUYS, TYPO!!

The difference?

About 10 minutes, since there's a whole lot more leg to cover than face. That's the only difference I can think of.

No, it's also easier to shave your legs without a mirror. That's two differences.

I can't think of any more.

You are usually standing in a shower shaving and lifting one leg at a time. There is running water and soap. So the wider grip on the razor makes it easier to keep ahold of.

Personally I'm enjoying the image of some shadowy cabal (TINC) sitting round some table formed of infant bones and sorrow, trying to come up with ways to further subjugate women so as to keep them in their assigned place as chattel in service to the Almighty lord CisHetWhiteMale. After hours of boring, pedestrian suggestions involving makeup or shoes some promising young lad comes up with the brilliant idea of charging people a few cents more for things based on the shape of the users' toilet parts. I mean, forget having to wear bee-keeper suits, forget the for-real rape rooms set up to 'fix lesbians', forget not being able to vote/drive/leave the house un-escorted in some civilizations. How do we oppress those nasssty uterus bearers? Make them pay more for razors!

It reminds me of the ramifications of movies like The Rock or National Treasure. Did some huge corps of engineers really spend months digging out tunnels and setting up mine car tracks to send some future unknown person on a wild ride? Do cloaked figures really huddle together and decide to jack up the price on shaving cream just to stick it to X-chromosomes?

Evidently quite a few people have rather a lot more free time than I, it would appear.

I did buy a bag of pink razors to shave my face with. 99¢ store. I thought they stayed sharper longer.

Mine is purple. Because I like purple.

Jenny Joseph’s “When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple”

Actual name:

Warning!

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people’s gardens And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Well because you have to buy them or sanitary napkins. But if you want us all to leave trails of blood everywhere we go....

While toilet tissue gets the full 20% VAT rate. That affects everyone - male, female, young, old, or whatever. Nobody seems to be arguing against the tax on it by claiming there's a risk of leaving other trails everywhere.

Please - distinguished, rather than gray...

That's what I tell people who remark on my graying. I get right up in their faces and explain that it's distinguished. They invariably agree! It's amazing the power of pure reason, carefully explained, has to enlighten people. Also it makes people nervous if you whisper "silver foxxxxx, ssssssssilver foxxxxx" directly into their faces. I guess they're overcome by the sexiness of a distinguished gentleman.

It's those staring eye sockets that does it.

Uh oh

The "blue tax"

Check this out

If I want to get my legs waxed, as a man I have to pay more than a woman would. $40 for women, $50 for men and if I want to get a "manzillian", holy crap, look at how much more I have to pay than a brazillian.

Not to mention there's no comparable service to the vagicial.

I'm outraged

So, in other words, not noticeably different at all from shaving the face.

No, it really doesn't. In fact, those ridiculously wide handles on some "women's" razors make them harder to use. I use the same exact razor for both with no problem. Are the majority of women that weak and uncoordinated?

I used to have my hair dyed like Twilight Sparkle. Unfortunately, the blue and purple parts washed out within a week, so I was left with mostly gray hair and a bright magenta streak.

I still have a crapload of purple dye left, so I'm thinking of just doing the whole thing purple.

Wow you stand in the shower bent over to your leg when you are shaving your face? Well I guess you learn something new every day!:D

I don't like the wide handles either. But hey that's why they make them that way. Some people do like the wider handle.
