Continuation Part 19: Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito

Not open for further replies.
She confessed to meeting Patrick at the basketball court and procuring him for sex with Meredith. She said she witnessed Mez' murder, heard a thud, heard her screams.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

I posted a comment if you'd like to take a look at it.:D

Firstly, the PGP are not an homogenous group.

Yes they are. Peas in a pod.

IMV (only) some of the so-called 'Innocenters' look a bit dodgy. One poured oil over a cat and set it on fire, killing it. Many seem to be the result of 'someone else' confessing on their deathbed and an attorney miraculously pops up waving the confessions of the deceased. How do we know the deceased are not simply leaving a legacy to others as their anti-social present to society?

One attorney got a death row inmate to confess to twelve (IIRC) murders which were revealed after his death to enable this attorney to get rich, freeing the 'Innocents' 'wrongly convicted'. ISTM this is an abuse of legal privilege.

As I said all PGP have the opinion that all convictions are solid. Any people freed are only freed because evil lawyers and journalists make money off their release.

Could you provide the number or better yet the percentage of freed people that were based on death bed confessions? Did you read the one where they found someone else's DNA but the state insisted he was still guilty because he didn't cum when he raped the girl?

Not so. I am the biggest campaigner against true injustice. I am conservative, with a small 'c' (although I don't vote it), royalist, with a small 'r' (heck, I am chartered by Her Maj, after all), I support our armed forces (being of family military background [RAF; British Army]) and of course our government, appalling as some of the indviduals may be. The world leaders got together at G8 recently to tackle climate change. We have to pray that our leaders do the right thing. Of course we have to back them.

I bet you are the first to call the police if anyone attacks you or you are in an accident. Heaven forfend if one of your family were attacked, but I bet you'd want the cops to come down hard on the perp then, and you wouldn't want them prancing around free claiming to be the victim.

I know the police better than you ever will. (Unless you marry one)

I want the police to do their job, period. I don't want them to catch just anyone and "say" that person is guilty. I want them to catch the right person, not just scare someone into buckling and regurgitating the story they fed them.

Would it make you happy to know that an innocent person paid for your family's misery? Would you really be satisfied?

And yet she did not meet Patrick. I also don't think she said she was procuring sex for Meredith. She also did not say she witnessed Mez's murder.

You have her remembering things THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. She texted Patrick that night. She NEVER texted Rudy. Or is that too difficult to accept?

I can't claim to know. I have no doubt at all there are some wrongfully convicted prisoners. There is nothing worse for the Innocent Project's reputation than a genuinely convicted person pretending to be wrongly convicted.

You've been watching too much Columbo.

Real life police have better things to do with their time and money, and in any case are accountable.

True. Mignini's accountability continues with his recent censure by his peers for violating Sollecito's rights. More will come.

So? That doesnt mean they dont make mistakes. Police are human and have flaws, like the rest of us. Cops are maybe more prone to arrogance and confirmation bias than any group of people imaginable. They are used to being the alpha dog taking control of every situation. The also see the world in terms of its the cops against the world. They rightfully believe the public doesn't understand how difficult their job is and they are right, we don't. They consider their profession to be a a fraternity where loyalty to each other is appreciated above pretty much everything. Most really want to serve their fellow man and most cops are adrenaline junkies.

That said, they can't read minds. I'll still never forget one time I got pulled over for failing to dim my headlights. . I got immediately nervous. I really couldn't afford a ticket. He never said at the time why he stopped me, but his antenna was up. And the more he questioned me the more sure he was that I was up to something. He asked me if I had been drinking, I said no. He just stared me down and then asked if I was high on something else. I said no. He then asked if he could search my car. At first I said no. Then he said he didn't need my permission and then suggested that it would be harder on me if I didn't say yes. I agreed. He then handcuffed me and put me in the back of his patrol car. (Said that was for my protection) And then with the help of another cop who just arrived proceeded to tear my car apart on the side of the road. He came back twice and asked me where the drugs were. I'm like "what drugs? " He said it would be much worse on me if they ended up finding them as opposed to me telling them. I said I don't have any drugs. Finally, they gave up and pulled me from the car and uncuffed me. The other cop left and the original cop said I was lucky they couldn't get the K9 unit to help otherwise I'd be on my way to jail. And then he told me not to forget to dim my high beams for oncoming traffic. And then he left with my car torn apart.

I have never taken any drugs, ever. But that cop spent more than an hour searching my car and left believing I had gotten away with a crime somehow. He was angry at me!

I want the police to help me when I need help. Otherwise I expect them to be courteous and leave me alone.

A growing number of scientists and legal scholars, though, have raised concerns about Reid-style interrogation. Of the three hundred and eleven people exonerated through post-conviction DNA testing, more than a quarter had given false confessions—including those convicted in such notorious cases as the Central Park Five. The extent of the problem is unknowable, because there’s no national database on wrongful convictions. But false confessions, which often lead to these convictions, are not rare, and experts say that Reid-style interrogations can produce them.

In 2005, DNA evidence came to light showing that another man’s semen had been found in the victim, and Rivera was granted a new trial. Prosecutors offered a couple of theories to explain the DNA—that the child must have been sexually active and bore the semen of one of her partners, and that Rivera, while raping her, had failed to ejaculate; or that Rivera had a partner who also raped the child. Rivera was found guilty again. He appealed the case and won. In January, 2012, after twenty years in jail, he walked free. He is now suing John E. Reid & Associates, his prosecutors, and members of the police and sheriff’s departments who questioned him.

Hardened psychopath? Who Amanda? Who Raffaele? You can't be serious?

Koo Koo.

Amanda became a psychopath for the first and only time in her life at the very same moment a known knife carrying, wall climbing, rock throwing, glass breaking, trespassing, burglar was drenching himself in Meredith's blood, and imposing himself in her body.

Year after year, day after day, she's just Amanda the soccer player, Amanda the honor student, Amanda the bad guitar player. And then one night, for one hour, while the blood of Meredith flows over Rudy's hands, pants, and shoes, Amanda transforms into Ted Bundy. Rudy is a transformative figure, Amanda may as well be him. I think on a certain level, the PGP do not believe in Rudy. He doesn't exist for them. Far beneath their own conscious thoughts, down in their most primal instinctual comprehension, where Rudy should be, Amanda is. She's the only one there, standing over Meredith's lifeless body, holding the knife. Nothing will ever penetrate this.

No, I just read through the testimony and news reports on this case.

Columbo was a great show BTW. Love Peter Falk. But if you ever watched Columbo you would know that he never intimidated anyone. That was never his MO.

I don't get how they so easily swap Rudy for Patrick. What if Patrick didn't have an alibi? What if he had just said it was too slow that night and closed up? Would he have gone to prison too? Would they have come to the conclusion 4 people murdered Meredith that night? Would he too be like Amanda and Raffaele labeled a psychopath by Vixen today? Amanda certainly wouldn't have been charged much less convicted of callunia at least.

It won't make a dent on Vixen. But you sold me Grinder.

Minister of disinformation.

It's the way stuff builds on other factoids. Upon her return to Seattle in 2011, there was a knife murder (I have no idea if it was ever solved). True to form the guilt-sites speculated if she had been involved.

Just recently there was another murder which made it to the pages of one or more of those sites, with the same accusation.
