80 Years of Subtle Sexism

My best friend is a straight man and he's a chef. Also most professional chefs are men and I don't believe gays are disproportionately represented.

Anyway, yes obviously there would be advertising directed towards gay men specifically. I am a disabled Christian homeschooler and there's advertising directed at my demographic. There are a lot more gays than disabled Christian homeschoolers ... and they are disabled with children so they probably have more money to spend.
Never said working chefs. Just good cooks

Wow. So basically you're saying gay men, effeminate men can cook. They're woman-like. That's incredibly sexist to women and gay men.

Maybe they can cook because there's no woman waiting on them. They're self-sufficient. Seems admirable and desirable to me.
Not effeminate. Not sure where you get that from. Just every couple I know has a good cook.

Anecdotal

What a terrible video. Not in principle... As in, it had potential to be good, perhaps, since there are certain things that women hear far more frequently than men. "Smile" is a good example. But so many of these "48 things" either made no sense, are things that men do actually hear a lot, or are references to female biology and thus would make no sense for men to hear.

Take "no guy wants to have sex with a virgin". I would be very surprised if virginity was seen as a less attractive quality in heterosexual women than in heterosexual men. I could go on and on, but there's too many bad examples.

I used to say that if it was not for sex, I'd rather be in relationship with man, than woman. I am not so sure any more.

Many (as in lots!!!)women are very nice to have relationships with - sexual or otherwise.

Not at all. I was just interested to see someone advertising to gay men but not women.

Seems slightly unlikely

TM is right - I collect advertising as part of my near lifelong study/collecting of "pornographic "/erotic material, creating a classification system for same (including advertising), and keeping up with research in the field. While many ads designed for gay males have certainly been enjoyed by females, this is not an invariable thing but it is real.

Ok. I'll take your word for it.

I think you would be hard pressed to get my wife to agree

I don't know how scientific it is, but there is some data:

Apparently women actually prefer what they call the "boy-next-door" physique (looks a lot like a "dad bod" to me) rather than a very physically fit specimen. Pictures at the link. Men prefer (and imagine that women prefer) the more physically fit body.

A study commissioned and touted by a menswear label catering for the chunkier end of the market. What could possibly be wrong with that....?

All the gays I know are kind of normal. Except for the ability to cook
All the sexist guys I know are kind of normal, except for the ability to treat women as equals.

As I said. Anecdotal
It's proof that some gays are good cooks. But are gays in general more likely to be good cooks? Your anecdotes aren't enough to tell us. However the conjecture is logical. Gays are less likely to live with women, and so are more likely to have to do their own cooking.

But why is the woman in a home more likely to be the better cook? Because men demand it!
