80 Years of Subtle Sexism

:p:thumbsup:

What's SJW?

Social Justice Warrior......the people who can use terms like cisnormative heteropatriarchy with a straight face. An SJW would dismiss the 48 things men hear video as being irrelevant because misandry isn't a "thing" or call anyone who questions the UVA rape story as a rape apologist ( Amanda Marcotte ) or go all attack dog of Germain Greer and try to no platform her because she asserts that men and women are different.

Ideas like women can't be sexist, PoC can't be racist and straight white men ruined the whole world are the backbone of SJW philosophy.

I think its enough to be human respecting human rights. That covers all interest groups.

Let's just ignore centuries of recorded history and suggest that men controlling the world is some kind of conspiracy theory...

It IS a conspiracy theory based on bigoted anti-male revisionist history. "Men" haven't ruled for centuries. SOME men and SOME women (usually aristocrats and monarchs) have ruled for centuries. For most of history, most men were just as powerless as most women regarding how they were ruled.

I have a son and a daughter. I think they're both pretty awesome. Girls are not better or more deserving than boys, or vice versa. I don't really care about what has happened before or even outside my circle of influence. I try not to make sexist or body shaming or otherwise harmful comments to either of them. Recognizing it happens, and trying our best not to do it, is the best we can expect of ourselves imho

What's most noticeable about the above side-by-side images is how gay the loincloth-wearing swordsman looks.

I was wondering about that. A lot of gay men really go for the super muscular look, and a lot of gay advertising features super muscular guys being exploited by being paid to wear next to nothing in the hopes of selling products. I'm sure the SJWs are extraordinarily outraged about this!

Thank y'all for the explanation, I am certainly not that at all!

Cheers

I hope it clarifies why I posted the Muscato link as representing the latest if SJWthink. At least Stephonknee ( Steph-on-knee....haha geddit ? ) is at least trying to live the role whereas Muscato, no so readily apparent )

I haven't seen much SJW support for Stephonknee, most likely to to the fact that she's age playing someone who, were this in any way real, would not be able to consent to sexual activity.

Hypermasculinity skews gay. It works because gay advertising is where the male gaze is focused on male objects, the results are a bit different than what you'd get from the female gaze on male objects. It's also less problematic when both the objectified and objectifier are the same sex, at least as far as accusations of sexism go.

Unfortunately it seems that when any question at all ever involves both sexes the immediate defensiveness prevents reasonable discussion. Frankly, most of the posters in this thread are irrational and grinding axes. I put it down to the inherent inferiority of heterosexuality. That stuff just messes with your head.

This is true. Having been raised in the heterosexual sub-culture I can confirm it.

A similar study on female bodyshapes would be interesting, women don't want He-Man, do men really want Barbie?

There was a famous study some years back where mannequins were given to men blind from birth. Despite never seeing a commercial or a Barbie doll, they preferred those forms with a .7 waist-to-hip ratio. I guess this shows the power of patriarchy.

While the idealized feminine body-type has become thinner over the years, the preferred male physique has seemingly changed even less (if I may appeal to admittedly western-centric Greek sculptures). A man with some definition and an impressive shoulder-to-waist ratio still seems preferred.

Maybe homosexuals execs get a pass because they're part of a historically oppressed group. Still, I can't help but think gay men place more of an emphasis physical attractiveness not because they're gay but because they're men.

There are double-standards for both sexes. It's been more unacceptable for women to have numerous sexual partners, and it's been more unacceptable for men to have same-sex partners. Between all of the double-standards and forms of discrimination, women have it worse. Still, it's probably less socially acceptable for a man to complain. Men should be strong and ambitious. They should man-up.

Yes, start complaining men, be subtle, lets see your issues.

Once we amount evidence, from both sides, we gonna measure it and decide when its enough, when to stop.

I believe you are correct. In my (anecdotal) experience of being a gay man hanging out with a lot of gay men, we treat each other exactly how straight men would treat women if the women would permit it. Men are pigs, the gay ones have the option of embracing that because what we lose from the other guy being a pig we make up for with our own piggery. It's a perfect circle, so as long as you like that sort of thing you'll be as happy as, well, a pig in mud.

:D:D as a female without much ability to be offended I know many men are much more piggy with me than they probably would be otherwise...I think to get out their systems, personally.

I think that goes into a whole Different arena that I, a heterosexual female, can't hope to understand.
