As Schopenhauer famously said, the English are the only nation that has a thorough understanding of the immorality of lying. Many here are strangers to truth, but they cannot help it as they lack the moral compass to begin with.

So I guess we have to cut slack, given the devotion to known compulsive liars Amanda and Raff.

Who needs truth, eh, when you can spin it?

Vixen - if you actually understand the immorality of lying, why do you do it so much?

I don't know why some people continue to dis Mr Guede. So after all the arrogance and ineptitude exposed in this case, I find it a sort of tip-o-the-hat to the courts involved to continue that assault on poor RudY. Think how he must feel... I know that Grinder did not always insist on using the Rudi spelling, and being the meticulous soul that he is, there must have been a political epiphany at some point to abandon the spelling preferred by Rudy. Wonder what that precise reason was? Or was that "Grynder"?

:)

Seriously G, you live in precision, it seems. Why did you decide on this change of your spelling of his name?

Hopefully for the last time.....

There is no "Y" in the Italian alphabet. Therefore it presents Italians with a problem when someone named "Rudy" shows up. "Rudy" is the French spelling of his name, probably the one used when his birth was registered back home.

There simply is uneven practise within Italy as to how to handle it. Anal retentive Italians will go with Rudi. However, there is a convention in the country which allows a person to retain a "y" in their name - both manners of dealing with it can be cited in this case.

Folks - nothing says that this case is over more than nitpicking over these sorts of issues.

ETA - come countries have this conundrum built in, and the presence or absence of a critical mark can cause riots in the streets. Is it Montréal or Montreal? Baie-D'Urfé or Baie-D'Urfe? Gaspé in la Côte-de-Gaspé or Gaspe La Cote-de-Gaspe?

Île-du-Prince-Édouard or Prince Edward Island? Nouvelle-Écosse or Nova Scotia? Québec or Quebec?

Early on in the first year it was pointed out that we on discussion board had Anglicized his name and I started using Rudi. Then I saw that courts or at least most of them spelled his name Rudi in the charging and motivations reports and thought it must be his legal name.

RW for some reason is obsessed with spelling it with a "Y" and I long ago acknowledged that RW had produced his signature with the "Y". At this time when I respond to RW I try to use Guede.

Grinda :p

Huh? We've poven over and over your countless fabrications. So you think you would recognize a lie, but I'm not sure you would recognize the truth if your legs were wrapped around it. So how could you recognize a lie?

Thanks MB but it was a FAX I think from XXXXXXXXXXXX - most likely a brit as they refer to a land registry which we don't call it, at least not here in Seattle.

Can anyone make sense of the FAX number? I'm sure it was a fake but...

MichaelB it would be great to get the Filomena testimony translated. If I missed it, let me know.

That is definitely a British phone number Grinder. "44" is the UK country code.

Your answer was understood before. But not fully dispositive IMO. Go ask an Italian if they play rugbi.. With all due respect, and for the precise among us, there is a reason that an active change was made from "y" to "i".

Anal retentive Italians will go with the person's name as spelled. Be they from Côte d'Ivoire or Bayern. And yes, there is nothing left but nit picking. A good environment for some. Back to discussion.

Oh, I see you responded.

RW gets special treatment? I will have to get back in the water. So that I understand, it is Guede for RW but the rest will receive Rudi? What about Amanda? or is it Knox?

Yes this is nit picking. :) again, forward on bloggers! and RW head down to Nico's and have a breakfast burrito for me.

I dropped it into google and it came up nuthin'. It seems too long to be one of ours (although I agree about the prefix). 23 pages! LOL

The extra numbers can actually be an extension on the phone system. But you can program the fax machine to show any number you want as the sender number. Or at least you could. It's been a long time since I used a fax.

FYI: it contains no additional numbers. It's a standard UK 11-digit number (five-digit area code followed by 6-digit number), preceded by "0044" (the access code for the UK from Italy - the "00" is the Italy int'l dialling code, and the "44" is the UK access code).

The area code is for the area around Brentwood in Essex (a satellite suburban region on the North-East outskirts of London).

But there I think things should stop..........

No, no LJ. Italy's country code is "39". "00" is traditionally the number dialed first for International dialing. A lot of companies that do a lot of overseas business will list "00" just to remind people to add "00" at the beginning to reach an international line.

I just reviewed the trial reports at Amandaknoxcase.com and every one of them except Matteini spell Guede's first name with an "I". It seems clear that his legal name in Italy is spelled with an "I" and that the person convicted was Rudi not Rudy.

If a German named Günther is convicted under the name Gunther here in the US would it be okay to refer to him as Gunther?

Btw, Bill how many "Y's" are there in Massei? The Italian version of course.

I think you are totally wrong on this Grinder, but you will stick to your guns because that is what you do.

There is no question that Rudy himself spells his name with a "y" and if I'm not mistaken there is no "y" in the Italian alphabet so it's easy to see why the Italian courts would use "i". But you don't have the same excuse Grinder. The English alphabet does have a "y". But leave it to you to copy the Italian court system.

Wow. I did not expect further on this. To your credit you are chasing down the details.

So now we need to see copies of his passport or other governmental ID. That will tell us what was <entered> by the clerk at least when he got whatever docu from the Italian govt. And of course we must address him by his Italian version name - no matter if they <Italianized> his name.

I am sure some of the paid PR minions who live in the ivory coast can truck on over to the local agenzia entrate... :)

If I start loading the Italian version of Massey into a word processor just to count the "y's" even I'd have to admit that this case is over and settled.

Can getting a life be that far from it?

I'm just happy to have Mignini's fax no. Getting ready to sit on the fax machine right now . . .
You might want to think about it, that's the Fax number of the "cancelleria penale" of the "Tribunale di Perugia"see page 8. :D
Dottore Mignini has been promoted. The Fax closest to him would be the one of the "Procura Generale" (number on page 27.) ;)

RW has already provided us Guede's :p immigration doc where he uses his alias of Rudy ;)

It is quite clear that he prefers Rudy but I don't care what HE prefers.
