Charleston church shooting described as hate crime

Why are people calling him white? Perhaps he identifies himself as black. /sarc.

Is it a "hate crime" when some guy guns down nine other people in a church?

Oh, I dunno.

It could have been some new sporting event, like skeet but with stationary singing targets. Or he could have been just clearing his legal weapon. Or it was just a dare by some friends.

So, no. Probably not a hate crime. Plenty of other possibilities.

I am sure that he was attacked, and only his right to care for an armed bear made it possible for him to shoot his way out of it.

There's no reason to assume it's a racist incident, a religious incident, or a hate incident.

It's more likely to be over something stupid, and given the look of the perp, my guess would be revenge.

These nuts often go off over something stupid, like a parking space, or getting fired, or being "wronged" in some way.

Broken nose?

It does kind of look like a Band-Aid over his nose.

Sweatshirt seems to be filthy?

Maybe bloody from the nose?

I suspect that's just shadows. In the first image, you can see a dark mark near his right elbow, but it's not there in the second image. Also, in the second image, it looks like the light is coming from his left side, which would put his right side in shadow, with his head casting its shadow onto his right shoulder.

Maybe his hockey team lost a game? Or pumpkins?

What?

The OKC bombing was fairly widely acknowledged as an act of terror. Same with the various sectarian attacks in the UK.

Memes detract from the issue at hand.

And muslims were guilty of it right up until the time McVeigh got on the radar. What we need to do is wait for the information, instead of inventing things to fill in the gaps between new information.
