UK - Election 2015

That is a personal comment and one you have no right to make. This is a discussion forum. I am convalescing from an operation so have rather more time on my hands than I want. I am entitled to post here as much as I want, and if you have a problem with that you have the choice of reporting me, putting me on Ignore, accepting it, or buggering off.

And now you are being over-sensitive (yes, that is a personal comment). I was referring to your reply to my post, not to the volume of your posts.

And good luck with your recovery. Been there!

No, I picked up your point. You still haven't said anything to explain what on earth you meant by asking about the SNPs vote if it had been a nationwide party.

Do you think you could please just address that one single point? What did you have in mind when you brought up the idea of the SNP being a nationwide party?
As stated, I had this in mind.
It would be interesting to allocate the perks/resources based on total votes cast rather than number of MPs. That way the Lib Dems would get better offices than the SNP, and more parliamentary time. The UKIP member could have a jewel-encrusted office and as much time as he wanted!

Looks like, true to from the Conservatives are seeking to punish benefits claimants and, according to this article, eroding the already poor rights of UK employees:

Newly appointed Business Secretary Sajid Javid has said there will be "significant changes" to strike laws under the new Conservative government.

A strike affecting essential public services will need the backing of 40% of eligible union members under government plans, he said.

The UK already has some of the worst employee rights in Europe and according to this Index, worse than Angola

You can bet that if such legislation merely results in more union members voting, and in favour of striking, that 40% will get raised!

Yeah 'cos it's all about you, isn't it.

Oh, and around here, look-it-up-for-yourself doesn't have much traction. You make the claim, you provide the back-up.

Certainly seems so. Your knee jerk drama queen question certainly indicates that is the case. I guess life must be easy if you're ignorant of so many things you just get everyone else to breastfeed it to you.

Too easy to get lost in the dark corners of t'interneteh?

Incredulous is as incredulous does!

Bizarre that our system has this as something for negotiation between two political parties, rather than part of the arrangements of the House.

My initial incredulity was because I don't see any of those things as perks, other than the fancy office.

Nothing to see here, just move along folks

I pity Mhairi Black. Regardless of what she says in Parliament, all David Cameron has to do is say "if you look at the projection screen, you can see her twitter feed".

it Is possible that the new government in about 18 months or so after a few by elections finds itself in the same boat as the mid 90's Major government and the mid 70's Wilson/Callaghan Governments, dependent on smaller parties to get votes through.

after all the SNP leader has already been to 10 Downing Street to negotiate greater powers for the devolved Government of Scotland.

It is possible. But by the time of any resurgence in the Labour party or Lib Dems most of the government's work will be done. We've just watched a government do virtually nothing for 3 years and there is every chance of that happening again.

The meeting didn't happen at Downing Street. It happened at the First Minister's official residence in Edinburgh. Guardian

We did. The quote is nearly a week old.

Do try and keep up.

It will be difficult as you seem to now need links and sources for common garden stuff all over the news media and national news. Maybe it's you that needs to keep up?

Yep. It won't take much to erode their majority. One reason why they are in a rush. The extra budget in July is one sign I would say.

Can we devise a suitable punishment for the POS Carmichael for leaking the Sturgeon memo?
Sturgeon will do that without any help from us. Maybe we could get him to read this slimy muck from the Specky.

Or this Labour crap.

But worse, he can be made to read this from Prescott in the Mirror.
But the mask has slipped with the Scottish Office memo of a conversation between Sturgeon and a French diplomat in which she reportedly claimed she’d prefer Cameron to stay as Prime Minister. She may have denied this, along with the Frenchman. But he’s a diplomat so he’s obviously being diplomatic.
Mmm. The French ambassador has two X chromosomes, John, just like the First Minister of Scotland. So you can be sexist about her too if you want, just like this.
I knew Angela Merkel. Angela Merkel is a friend of mine. Ms Sturgeon, you’re no Mrs Merkel. But there’s one person she is a dead ringer for. Bloody minded, jingoistic and prepared to divide and rule to get her own way. Margaret Thatcher would be proud.

Never mind. They have been almost totally wiped out from this country, and survive only in the richest suburb of Edinburgh. The abused ghost of Keir Hardie must be at peace at last.

I hope Carmichael is made to squirm. Politicians must have integrity. For some reason, not that I have been keeping notes, I tend to associate the Lib Dems particularly with electoral dirty tricks.

In the Daily Mail I read that one Labour genius thinks the road to regaining power involves cutting welfare and blocking immigration.

If they think that'll win an election, that's what they'll do. Blair taught them that. But alas they failed to heed the Wisdom of the Great Leader this time. They won't make that mistake again.

I fail to see the point of being Labour but going all right wing to win an election.

Is anyone suggesting that?

Being right of where they are now, and having some sort of offering for people who want to achieve something in life, doesn't make them right wining. It just puts them closer to the centre, which is the only place you can ever win an election from in the UK.
