Because they're (the ones that are abandoning the Democrats) dumb. The Democrats are the only party working to help the working class. The GOP sure as **** does not care about working class people at all.

I really don't know the answer to this. Democrats losing working-class white voters is a fairly recent phenomenon, whereas Republican demographics are pretty much a constant in that they have been mostly white since I can remember.
 
That's the first time that I've ever seen anyone claim that Hitler underestimated white men.

Part of it is the simple fact that Southern Democrats (which were once more conservative than Republicans) don't exist any more. Another factor is probably the mainstream media leaning rightward from its former position on average.

Then there's the basic "angry white male" syndrome, but that's been around since the '80s. People have a tendency to generalize freely in a negative fashion about white people and no one calls it prejudice. That makes some of us feel less special. It doesn't matter whether it's true on average or not any more than it does to black people. That notably tends to come from the left in our case.

I'm not Republican, but I am white enough to understand (but have no major sense of racial pride, like some do). My main reason for being anti-Republican is my (lack of) religion. Until the party as a whole gets their religious attitude/theocratic tendencies fixed, they'll never get my vote for anything bigger than city dog catcher. I also lean slightly left on most issues anyway though.

Correct me if I misunderstand - you seem to draw this conclusion from the last two mid-term elections. Isn't that classical cherry picking? Or do you have other data sources?

I'd like some confirming evidence that your assertion is true before we address the issue of "why"?

So, if we've seen "the white man" fight and win a two theater war, and if this new reaction is going to be a reaction like we have never seen before, then doesn't that mean that this new reaction is going to be bloodier than WW II ? Bloodier than any war that we've seen "the white man" win? Really?

Exactly if this country had simply kept voting limited as the founders knew it should be the republicans would have easy wins. Nonwhites and women really can't be expected to understand the situation well enough to vote properly.

But non whites are taking their jobs instead of the jobs non whites should be working in!
 
People like and hate Savage for the same reason: he's willing to run with the philosophy to the bitter end and express the consequences. Most who share his ideas are unwilling to take the elevator to the bottom floor.

Glen Beck is like that too. He'll grant the distasteful outcomes of his libertarian leanings and still stick to the plan. Both are like the old-school Catholics - "But if we don't allow birth control, the starving poor will simply continue to breed and be stuck in their poverty." "Yep," says the Pope, "We can accept that."

Other commentators back-pedal when they get to the "uncomfortable" zone. They temper their idealism with mature reflection and compromise. Not Savage. Not Beck. Not the Popes of old. And this unyielding stance is attractive to some - mostly those who aren't happy with nuance, who take the clarity as refreshing and honest. Sad, that.
