I have a suggestion for the Kerchers actually. . . .
Find a private investigator who is bilingual and has a reputation for honesty. As him or her to investigate the case and accept whatever the PI tells them.

In Italy? :jaw-dropp

Actually, I was thinking of an ex Scotland Yard type who also speaks Italian.

Yea :)
Whatever disposed this cassation panel to annul the convictions it certainly wasn’t the cretinous, xenophobic racist online campaign in the English speaking world.
That’s not to say it didn’t have some effect. Some, from a certain demographic, fell for it but for any right thinking person it’s nature and the fact it was never repudiated (and was actually encouraged) by the killer’s family was instructive.

One Q remains perhaps – can a few more dollars be made or has the gravy train that was MK’s murder run its course.
There might be a market for the images of the victims naked corpse. Given the nature of Britney’s fan base it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility.

What disgusting slime you post!

It seems to me that the "true belief" tended to come from people of advanced years who had cultivated fantastical notions about the moral degeneracy of modern youth. I wasn't aware until today that the chief culprit behind the Supreme Court's disgraceful ruling of March 2013 was 72 years old. This seemed to fit nicely into a broader pattern.

I think he is also a famous 9-11 truther, thinking it was an 'inside job'. Just saying...

Sure they were, but probably not the present or future officials. Keep in mind for example, that enrollment from foreign students is down considerably in Perugia and locals attribute it to the case and how it has been portrayed by the media.

At some time, it would be fantastic PR for them to invite Amanda back. It all depends on who's running the show. If their ties and loyalties are to Mignini and his cabal...then there is no chance. But if those ties are severed and people move on and realize that this stain will never disappear without a sincere "mea culpa" it will happen.

But on the other hand, I could be wrong.

Perugia should form an investigatory team with metal detectors and walk the wide swath along the routes that Guede may have taken from the cottage to the private garden where the phones were found, and from there to his room at the time, to look for a rusty knife. One that matches the wounds and bloody outline on Kervher's bed sheet.

Someone who owns a building along the route that Amanda and Raffaele were driven to prison should mount a plaque on their building wall, similar to the ones I saw in French towns and villages commemorating the local residents who were victims of war. The plaque in Perugia should say in Italian and English:
"In commemoration of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, students in this town, who in 2007 were arrested and falsely accused of a crime they did not commit. Paraded in police vans past this spot on the 6th day of November 2007 on their way to Capanne Prison."

Well, no, plainly that was someone else - an "honorary president" rather than an actual judge. The PIP ad hom that this discredited anything that might come out of the Supreme Court is looking rather ill-advised in light of Friday's events.

Mignini, Stefanoni, and others are probably worried that there will be an independent investigation that will show their collusion.

What files do you think Stefanoni should retain and what should she destroy (that she hasn't already destroyed)?

Suppose she has files showing that the DNA on the bra clasp does not match Giacomo and she failed to inform the Nencini court or defense of this. Should she keep it or destroy it?

Suppose she has files which reveal that she ran a DNA test on the semen stain and it matches Guede. Keep the files or destroy them? Suppose her notes show she informed Mignini of this? Should she keep the notes or burn them?

If Stefanoni experiences a garage fire, what would you make of it? :p
.
A budget constraint.

IIUC, Frank Sfarzo said no exhaustive search was ever performed, because a policeman told Frank, we already have the knife, why should we look?

I would guess its a realistic possibility that the knife is still there.

But I would go looking for it. If you found it and tried to turn it in, you find yourself charged as Rudy's accomplice.

I wonder if that might have happened to 'God'? Wouldn't that be justice?

Machiavelli did tell us, when his side was doing the gloating, that the law requires (why?) all materials used in unrepeatable tests to be destroyed. So she has probably already started rummaging through the files. If I were her, I'd burn down the lab, claim the insurance and head for the Austrian border :D
.
I remember that, but I suspect that at best it was a half truth.

The full truth might be something like; if the test is unrepeatable it is not allowed as evidence, and is therefore a candidate for being destroyed.

Regarding the possibility of the new SC ruling contradicting the earlier SC ruling that Guede acted in concert with others:

It should be remembered that the (fast track) trial process which established the "judicial fact" that Guede acted with others was made in the bizarre circumstance where the prosecution, defence and courts all readily agreed that there were multiple attackers, and therefore this element was clearly never properly tested. I wonder therefore whether the latest SC ruling will resolve any potential conflict by pointing out this anomaly, and by ruling that in its view the evidence is also wholly compatible with Guede acting alone.

Guede was charged for acting in competition with Amanda and Raffaele not with some unknown figures.
Thus the "judicial fact" of competition was only provisional, because of the separate trial tracks, and now is gone with them definitely absolved.

BTW,
Yo Anglo, Rose, LJ and others :)

I enjoyed lurking very much thanks to your intelligent and insightful posts...

He may have just made that up though, or - if I'm being charitable - been misinformed. It's not like it would be the first time.

Not competition surely, but concert.

I don't understand the provisional nature of the ruling, you are asserting.

Amanda and Raffaele were not confirmed as his co-conspirators at his trial

Was he? I thought it was left (purposefully) unclear at his trial and that he was convicted of acting with unspecified others.

Can you clarify this please? The honorary president of cassation was the truther? Or was it Chieffi? Pretty sure I've seen this somewhere.
Thanks,

I doubt anyone here knows, but how do they select the judges in these trials?

It seems it is dumb luck whether a trial gets intelligent judges who understand and rule by law, or tenured nitwits who don't.

And oddly, there does not seem to be many variants in between.

Exactly. The sentence of last Friday definitely removed the "conspiration" part by clearing the remaining suspects.

Um, incidentally, this doesn't inspire confidence either.

I guess what I meant and said inarticulately is that they would apologize and make amends with Amanda. But maybe this is just hope on my part.

I think the truth will be traumatic for the Kercher family. I can't see how they can possibly come round to seeing reality without big rifts within the family.

Is this accessible at all in English?
