But there is one thing I want to tell you: Vecchiotti and Hellmann are not off, we will go and get them.
I believe we will expose the whole thing in the end, like in the Ustica massacre.

The person who could write that may be clinically insane.

I'm afraid I agree. I think "Yummi" needs to take a good few days off, stop writing anything, and have a long think.

Anglo says above that the debate is all over now, and of course he's substantively correct to say that. But there are others who clearly cannot accept that the debate is indeed all over, bar the loose ends. For them, there's a stubborn refusal to accept the new reality, and what seems like increasingly erratic and irrational attempts to rationalise the situation. The cognitive dissonance must be totally deafening for them.

This is a bona fide cult that has been evinced around "the memory of Meredith Kercher." Bizarre, lonely and desperate individuals have joined the "cause," and it has given them purpose. Half-humans like Michael, Ergon, Yummi, Quennell, Ganong, etc., have derived immense ego gratification from their pathetic mewling and yammering, and they will go down hard.

I hope that every single one of them winds up, at a minimum, a defendant in defamation cases brought by Knox and Sollecito.

If he's right and they ('we?') go after Vecchiotti and Hellmann, I say bring it on. That might be the only way things like the EDFs come out....

In addition to this issue, I think it's also worth remembering that another - potentially highly inflammatory - issue might rear its head when the SC motivations come out.

It revolves around the "other attackers" factor. In its motivation on today's verdict, the SC will have to explain whether a) it concluded that it still agrees with the Guede SC ruling that there were multiple attackers, and that it doesn't find that Knox or Sollecito were those additional attackers; or b) it concluded that in fact there was probably only one attacker - Guede - and that this is one of the reasons behind the immediate acquittals of Knox and Sollecito. And of course, if it's (b), then Guede is notionally entitled to a full review of his case and potentially even a retrial, since the SC would effectively be overturning a finding of fact that was rubber-stamped by the SC as part of his original conviction.

I therefore suspect that this latest SC motivation might prevaricate somewhat on this issue. They might, for example, say that in their view it's impossible to say whether the crime was committed by one or more than one assailant, and that since there's no evidence against Knox or Sollecito, they cannot be considered as additional assailants - even if additional assailants did participate in the crime.....

Yes - you're quite right - there's a potential for a Guede re-trial on that issue - the motivation report may therefore remain silent on multiple attackers as far as is possible - but that is very difficult. Interesting.

No, as far as I understand, this verdict has in effect nullified both Nencini and Massei. The Hellmann verdict had already been nullified by the previous SC ruling, so there was nothing there to reinstate in any case.

Thank you, I was wondering because somewhere I saw there was an option to 'restore' Hellmann, though it was considered highly unlikely. I know I recalled hearing that Hellmann had been 'razed to the ground' but then I remembered where I'd heard that and their track record on such things.

So will the ISC write the entire motivation from scratch then?

In bringing the case to ECHR for length of trial, can the other abuses, such as denial of discovery, be brought forward as well? Perhaps it will depend on how the acquittal motivation report deals with those issues. What do you think?

I think the calunnia conviction is in the ECHR cue, and will get wiped away.

I think Italy will pay full and generous compensation for wrongful incarceration and legal fees, and both Amanda and Raf will end up with clean records.

I think in the end, they just want their names cleared, I don't even think they care about the prosecutors and cops that did this to them.

But I think Raf's lawyer Brizioli, who was one of Mignini's victims in his Florence 20 Narducci trial case, is going to put Mignini on the stand in the trial over 'Honor Bound', and teach him a lesson.

I also predict Chieffi will now retire, and Mignini will be sidelined, eased out, retired or arrested.

Da chickens has come home to roost.

I am anticipating CoulsdonUK to post shortly saying that the court knows best and therefore we have arrived at the truth, and also to remind us that all this chatter about AK and RS is misplaced because Meredith was "true" victim.

Which is probably why someone will say 'er, hang on a minute ... is this wise?'

That's my guess as well. I fully support an investigation into this case as long as it's not being run by the buddies of Mignini and Maresca.

I wonder how Mignini is taking this? Anyone see if an Italian journalist got a reaction from him?

I picked this out of the AP story on the case:

In a rare decision, the supreme Court of Cassation overturned last year's convictions by a Florence appeals court and declined to order another trial. The judges declared that the two did not commit the crime, a stronger exoneration than merely finding that there wasn't enough evidence to convict.
Hmmm, I hate to accept this as gospel, since the media has gotten so much wrong on this case, but there were similar things written after the Hellmann verdict, and they turned out to be accurate.

I would love to hear exactly what the judges said today when the verdict was read.

I think it's accurate. They weren't just acquitted, they were absolved.

The mass self-delusion continues apace. Here's "McCall":

I am watching the real time stats and the wiki is doing what it was designed to do. There will always be people who believe Amanda Knox is innocent but there are dim people who believe all kinds of things. For any intelligent person even remotely curious they end up on the wiki and they end up realizing that the only reason they thought Knox was innocent was the PR campaign.

I wouldn't stay in waiting for the phone to ring from any media organisations any time after tomorrow, "McCall".............

Right now, Raffaele has compensation due for four years unjust imprisonment and Amanda for one year (3 years imprisonment for her is still considered just).

I don't know what that amounts to.

I think you're right about clearing names.

That's simply pathetic!

He who laughs last, eh?

I do not expect to be tested in my lifetime to anything like the degree these two were. Raffaele, for a couple of reasons (he had an out and he was stuck in Italy) was more especially tried but he came through. I wish I could be sure I would have been as tough, but I'm not.
