I think he's either dead or nearly so. The fact that the Kremlin showed old footage of him to try to quell rumours has driven speculation into overdrive and I must confess to being intrigued.

I finally caught some coverage of this on CNN and they say it's been eleven days!

A president who goes on state TV several times a week and there's no live imagery of him nor official statement for eleven days?

A mundane explanation is seeming less and less likely.

An even more telling part is that Kremlin tried to pass off old photos as current.

Something is wrong with him. It remains to be seen what it is. The most mundane explanation is Botox shot gone wrong.

IIRC Berlusconi would disappear for a few days from time to time and emerge with fewer wrinkles and/or a new hairline.
