Yats is on visit in Germany and was interviewed on prime time TV. He stated that something like the Soviet Invasion of Ukraine and Germany back in the days shall not be allowed to happen again. Yup. So far everybody seems to try to let it sink in ...

These people are so full of it. Reminds me of Klitschko telling the audience at some price he got for being Germany's puppet that he hopes for help with their wall-building project at the Russian border because we are so experienced with that stuff... :nope:

Yeah, don't bother to provide an actual quote or anything. "Stated something like" will work just fine.

Even if that is an accurate translation, it would be Putin's actions in invading Eastern Ukraine that lead people to say such things.

Don't put words into my mouth. I wrote "He stated THAT something like..." and read on from there again. Try to understand an issue before you type. Here is a video of the interview, with relevant timestamp in the tweet presented to you by a member of the German parliament. It's in German, though.

It's the vile fantasy world in which Stepan Bandera is a hero which leads to faux pas' like this, thinking he can score points with the German people by making statements like that.

ITAR-TASS said:
On Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued an official query to Berlin asking it to clarify the German government’s position on Yatsenyuk’s claims.

“We sent a note to the German Foreign Ministry regarding Yatsenyuk’s extremist utterance, which falsifies history, and asked them to formulate an official position on it,” Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov said.

ITAR-TASS said:
“The federal government does not comment on the statements made by Prime Minister Yatsenyuk,” a spokesman for the cabinet of ministers said.

Along with it, he recalled that Berlin “does not call into question in any way Germany’s responsibility for the deaths of Soviet citizens during World War II.”

German govt refuses to comment on Ukrainian PM’s assertions about WW II history. And so does German media. Pathetic.

I'm pretty sure that the Soviets absorbed the Ukraine into the USSR, and they certainly ran East Germany for 40 or so years. My German isn't good enough to know the word used - I think it might have been "an march" or "to march on," but there's a verb at the end I can't get. He says that the aggression in Ukraine is a threat to the stability of Europe and the world, then follows up with the part I can't understand regarding Soviet [somthing] regarding Ukraine and Germany. If he said "occupation" or "proxy rule" instead of "invasion" that could have been accurate. I don't think that the East Germans were "liberated" as this politician asserts until 1989.

Actually, the Ukraine was absorbed into Russia in the 17th Century after the collapse of the Polish/Luithuinain Commonwealth, which controlled it until then.
Ukraine is interesting in that although it has all the elements that usually apply to a independent nation,it has only had short periods of politically indepdence.
Which in no way,of course, excused Putin shameless aggression.

It gained independence when Russian empire collapsed in 1917, and was promptly re-conquered by Soviet Union in 1920-21.

Their history is similar to the history of all small Russian neighbors. Ukraine is just the biggest of the bunch, by far. All a coincidence, I'm sure.

Interpol puts Viktor Yanukovych on wanted list

International police organisation issues red notice against ousted Ukrainian president for alleged financial wrongdoing

...

Yanukovych fled across the border into Russia in February last year after months of street protests in Kiev against his decision to back away from closer ties with Europe and instead tighten economic ties with Russia, Ukraine’s old Soviet master.

The pro-western authorities who took over have accused him and a coterie of relatives and close allies, known as “the Family”, of accumulating huge wealth by robbing state coffers and plundering national assets through corrupt deals. Yanukovych has denied that he or members of his family were involved in corruption.

A pro-Russian leader plundering state assets? That's shocking.

True, though the Ukrainie rupublic of 1917 to 1920 was pretty much established as a Imperial German puppet.

Although the cease fire never fully took effect, there did seem to be a significant drop in the intensity of the fighting.

Lately, things seem to be heating up again, especially at Donestk's airport. This a aerial video of the airport, as of yesterday. It is quite a striking thing to see the number of shell craters, many of them obviously fresh with dirt on top of fresh snow. Some of those ruined buildings seem to contain Ukrainian troops who have been holding the area for months now; those troops are referred to as "Cyborgs" and seem to be heros in the eyes of Ukraine.

As usual, the live UA map continues to offer updates, but that can be hard to follow due to poor English and excessive use of acronyms, nicnames and jargon, and unverifiable claims. However, it does seem apparent that there has been an uptick in fighting.

Also, from a few days ago, a rather intense artillery barrage near the airport.. That seems to be a residential neighborhood, the same view can be seen in daylight here.

The Soros and NED-sponsored propaganda central in the Hotel Ukraine at Maidan has been busy putting out war propaganda. "Funny" thing is that I and everybody else interested had seen the images of the collapsed Donetsk airport tower before they put out that fancy graphic.

The solution to the crisis is as obvious as it is painful.

1. train Ukrainian volunteers in urban and guerilla warfare
2. train and equip Ukrainian army in anti-air warfare
3. train and equip Ukrainian air force in anti-sea warfare
4. train and equip Ukrainian army for conventional warfare
5. help Ukrainian army procure at least 2000 ballistic missiles (Tochka are OK) and put them in position to strike Sevastapol

Use point number 4 to drive the rebels back, the rest are there just to ensure the eventual Russian full-scale invasion sees the end of the Red army as an effective fighting force for a few years and hopefully unseats Putin and his Boyards (Oligarchs).

Any cease-fire agreement rests on an assumption both sides want to cease fire. Russians have shown to be unwilling to do so, it needs to be taken into account.

Now this is bizarre. When the opolchenie cleaned out Donetsk airport recently and saved some Ukie soldiers trapped under the rubble, they found on each of them little solar-powered audio devices with baptist preaching in Russian and English on them, by one Charles Stanley, apparently this guy. Here's commander "Motorola" presenting one:

I wonder if it works as well at "zombifying" as Wahhabist preaching does in the Middle East...

Found a sickening article from April 2003 about Stanley's activities.

Max Blumenthal said:
[...] “The government is ordained by God with the right to promote good and restrain evil,” Stanley said in his sermon. “This includes wickedness that exists within the nation, as well as any wicked persons or countries that threaten foreign nations … Therefore, a government has biblical grounds to go to war in the nation’s defense or to liberate others in the world who are enslaved.” And sampling from a scattershot of biblical passages to inform his argument, Stanley warned that those who oppose or disobey the U.S. government in its drive to war “will receive condemnation upon themselves.” [...]

Even before victory has been formally declared, In Touch is just one phalanx in an army of Christian soldiers who see Muslim Iraq as an extraordinary new marketplace for their theology. Already, churches and ministries on the religious right are poised to send in missionaries and to amp up broadcasts to the region. Like advance troops before the invasion, some U.S. military officials in Iraq have already staked out the country as a natural place to spread the Christian Gospel. [...]

What Kimball calls Stanley’s brand of Christian nationalism was on vivid display in an In Touch prayer pamphlet titled “A Christian’s Duty,” which features a list of daily prayers for U.S. troops serving in Iraq and for President Bush and his advisors. Framed in luminous shades of red, white and blue, the pamphlet includes a tear-off prayer pledge that can be mailed to the president. According to Black, In Touch Ministries has distributed 850,000 of the pamphlets across the U.S. and could exceed the 1 million mark very soon. Of course, during wartime it is common for religious leaders to ask their congregations to pray for their leaders to act wisely and for the safety of their troops. But some of the daily prayers in “A Christian’s Duty” are exceptional. For instance, one reads: “Pray that the President and his advisors will be strong and courageous to do what is right regardless of critics.” [...]

“A Christian’s Duty” made a splash recently when the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported that it had turned up by the thousands among U.S. Marines in Iraq. Because the ABC cited an anonymous embedded reporter, the report is almost impossible to confirm. Black denied that In Touch sent the pamphlets directly, hypothesizing that an individual member might have delivered them without In Touch’s knowledge. [...]

Well, we know how this worked out.

A good decade later, the propaganda tools are more sophisticated. Found the device from Donetsk airport on Stanley's website. It's the "Messenger". For $35 you can sponsor one. 500,000 have been distributed already. Available in 14 languages incl. Russian. Apparently the Donetsk devices are an older version, not the one shown prominently, but the one seen on an image further down on the page, showing a mother terrorizing her poor brown baby with it.

In Touch website said:
We can’t wait to see where God takes the Messenger next.

Pray for Porky and go straight to heaven after you died as cannon fodder under rubble! It all makes sense! Where's the puke emoticon?

Religious propaganda in times of war has a long standing tradition going back to the earliest written records. Why do we need to get excited over this?
