I'll give this to the elder Bush -- His Mideast war was well run. He met his objective and got out. He got lots of other countries to help pay for it, keeping costs super low. He let smart professionals run it, and he took responsibility for it, managing from the very top. Contrast this with the 2nd Bush, who let despicable lunatics run his war, which cost 1000x more than was promised, etc, etc.

In any case, the association of previous Bushes probably isn't a big problem for J. Bush. I used to think it would be, but people have really short memories.

I'm not sure. If W was an asset, he would have been at subsequent conventions and hot on the campaign trail in 2014. Didn't happen. The Elephants will keep him fully supplied with painting supplies down at the ranch.

I'm not saying that GWB has to actively campaign but that the nostalgia for the 'good ole days' when a white guy named Bush was in charge could be of help to Jeb.
 
You're right; he MIGHT be an asset. I don't think so but it will be very interesting if Jeb gets the nod to see if he lets W off the ranch.

Romney ran against a field of nut jobs and dingbats, the only GOP who apparently wanted the job two elections in a row. Expect serious contenders this time around. Jeb may be the heir apparent but he'll have a tough row to how.
 
I'm surprises you leftist don't realize the problem you're in, Hillary is all you have. Suppose all the history she has in politics, for example BENGHAZI!!! comes up again. What if she is proven to be the phony non-leader she is. Who else are you going to fall back on?

The repub field is large but, out of that the best will emerge.

The point is, she has some real character issues, and has made major mistakes. She also has no real accomplishments. It is going to come up.

No real accomplishments? Again with that malarky? You mean she has nothing that you consider an accomplishment but if a Republican had the same resume they'd be overqualified.

The process hardly seems designed to select the most qualified or even the most electable.
 
Except, Ladewig, I gonna guess that the Elephants learned from the 2012 clown parade that that is not the way to go. There'll be far fewer debates and only the serious nutjobs will be invited. For example, no more Mr. 9-9-9s will be spouting horse manure.

I don't know how they will manage that when a significant wing (Tea Party) of the party wants to hear the horse manure.

There's that for sure. But I'm guessing that Establishment Heads will prevail. I could be wrong - and will be all the more gleeful if I am. :) :)
