PIRT: PGF Image Resource Thread

Does anyone have the link to the video that showed the Cowboys riding down the steep embankment ?

The link I am thinking of has that, and then the PGF film all in one place. But I can't find the link.

I'm just amazed at how steady and professional the camera handling is before Patty shows up. So steady and the panning so smooth it's like it was on a tripod. This is for both P&G because both guys are using the camera in those scenes. Where did Gimlin get those camera skills?

This is a WAY old post and thread, BUT, all that smoothness and apparent camera zooming is the result of whomever making the video of the film, having stabilization clicked or checked while it was processed. Perhaps by YouTube, perhaps by the software on their computer.

That zooming and stabilization occurs during the Patty portion as well, which can be checked with other versions of the film other than this particular video, and it does not exist elsewhere. I found a handful of the same effects in the Patty sequences here, that really don't exist on the film itself. This "Complete First Reel" is valuable for reference only, but not really for extracting important details, unfortunately. It is filled with stuff that creates more rabbit holes to go down, which the original film did not have. No zoom, no tripod, no pro skillz...

I've never seen any of this footage on celluloid from a projector. I never thought there was a zoom lens used. Same for a tripod. It just seems rock-steady considering that it's a handheld film camera.

I've seen many dozens of versions online and some on TV. I don't recall any of them being shaky at any point other than that opening bit with Patty.

Indeed...it's amazing how the fact that Roger Patterson was making a movie about hunting Bigfoot is overlooked, how could there not have been a suit for that movie?

Maybe he was way ahead of his time and was going to be the first to produce a monster hunting show where there is no monster.
