Do you like people accusing your vote of being invalid based on nothing?

If you do I recommend voting in Wisconsin this election.

Milwaukee County’s Republican Elections Commissioner Rick Baas warned a crowd of volunteers and supporters Friday night to be “concerned about voter fraud,” and urged the hundreds of attendees to take an “extra step of vigilance.” “You as a Wisconsin resident can challenge people who are not supposed to be voting,” he said at the Milwaukee County Republicans event. “You’ve got to do that.”

What exactly do they mean by "people who aren't supposed to be voting?" How do they determine that? Can they send volunteers to stand outside voting stations and challenge people who look like they "are not supposed to be voting?"

It's not hard to tell who shouldn't be voting - they look like Democrats.

I can only assume that he;s talking about black people on the grounds that they are the most likely not to have ID. Sounds like a good plan - hassle black people who overwhelmingly vote for the Democratic Party. Maybe some of them won't bother to vote.

Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) signed a law earlier this year allowing poll observers to be as close as three feet to a voter.
Doesn't work in WA; our voting is by mail.

Volunteers will be issued paper bags to assist in the determination.

(Yes, I know the Brown Paper Bag Test was traditionally used by lighter-skinned African Americans to discriminate against darker-skinned African Americans.)

But how does one challenge someone? What legal standard is applied, reasonable suspicion, probable cause?

You mean not white.

From the article:
Under state law, voters, election workers, official observers, or any member of the public can challenge the validity of someone’s vote, but to do so, they must swear under oath that they have firsthand knowledge that the person is not qualified to vote. A challenge cannot be based on a mere suspicion or hunch.

Your honor, I know for a fact that he is a thug.

How come no one mentioned people who look like they are in a union?

Just curious does everyone just assume a think progress article without any link to the actual or full statement is correct?

A quick search shows that all the other places carrying the story link back to the Think Progress article.

However, it doesn't sound at all out of line with what Republicans in Wisconsin have been saying and trying to do, and in fact lines up with an older voter suppression tactic. I suspected it might be paving the way for a massive vote caging push, and searching that...

Does, "God told me", work?

Pigment and age are the determined factors.

As a Wisconsin citizen I can attest to how incredibly terrible our governor is and when reelected will confirm to me that our democracy is doomed because such a large portion of the electorate doesn't have a clue and is essentially just playing cheerleader for their political football team.

They can hire the Philadelphia chapter of the Black Panthers to watch the polling stations. They have all the necessary experience and the blessing of the Obama Administration.

Uh, wouldn't the Chicago chapter be closer?
