Just checked out a few major news website comment boards.The out and out racism is disgusting. I knew those are cesspools,but now they are overflowing.

Made a mistake and turned on Fox news. Needless to say they are pushing what amount to a "Brave White Cops protecting us from the Rampaging Black Savages" line. Fox News is barely trying to hide the racism nowdays.

Nope. It was a series of small words that when read together as part of a sentence conveyed what I was trying to say quite adequately.
I can see other people got the gist quite easily. Don't know what else I can do to help to be honest.

Looking at that quote:

Seems to indicate that California LEO's knew when they were abusing their authority but only amended their unacceptable behaviour when there was a chance of being caught.

This means that California are hiring the wrong people to be LEO's.
 
I am a big fan of recording policies, but there is a huge observation bias in these claims of recordings reducing complaints as evidence of police wrongdoing. The door swings both ways.

Regarding the OP, I guess we'll have to endure the Nancy Grace Fan Club here until some actual evidence surfaces in this case. What can be gleaned is the level of embarrassment being heaped upon this forum. Critical thinking isn't a cult.
 
I think we need a federal mandate that if you want federal law enforcement money you need to have cruiser and handset cameras that are live and recording 24/7. And tamper-resistant.

If this had happened in most places in Chicago, there would be a recording from the street camera system, which is another option.

Quite.
What element of that 88% represents LEOs no longer breaking the rules, and what represents people no longer falsely accusing LEOs of breaking the rules is unknown.
Similarly with the 60% reduction in use of force.

But, whatever the reason, the presence of recording devices seems to make both sides stay a little calmer. Which can't be bad.

In light of this apparent police jackbootery and tyrannical behavior, where are the gun guys?

Where are the Bundy types? Where are the "we need guns to protect ourselves (and society) from government run amok!"? Where are the Second Amendment defenders of the folks in Ferguson? Why are there no "snipers" on the overpasses n Ferguson?

Sorry if I'm repeating something. I have not caught up on the whole thread. I live about 20 miles from where this all went down and it's pretty much all anyone is talking about. There is a lot of contradictory information out there.

Last night, the Ferguson police arrested a St. Louis city alderman. Previously, a state senator was tear gassed.

Also, two reporters were arrested in a McDonalds for ...typing in a threatening way? The word on the local social media street (i.e. pure anecdotal) is that that McDonalds was where reporters had been congregating due to the free wi-fi and availability of electrical outlets and that the Ferguson police are doing their best to control the media output. I don't know how true that is, but it fits with the no-fly zone the city has imposed to keep news helicopters.


I'm really at a loss at how Ferguson could be handling this any worse than they are.

Since we seldom agree on issues, I hope you don't take this as snark. Use your common sense and that inner alarm system when you're out, be mindful of crowds, etc... It's probably not the time to be getting lost in an unfamiliar neighborhood with your family, etc...

The violence seems to be very isolated (and you can report that here better than I can assert it from media impressions. Just be careful, buddy. Crap like this has potential for getting very ugly very quickly.
