Interesting. That seems to mean that someone, anyone, has been brute-forcing the passwords of the mod team. The error basically says "Too many password entry attempts. Try again later."

If someone started changing rights here and there, it's quite likely not the holder of the account.
 
As full disclosure I did make other comments in posts in the mod only section but the moderator agreement I agreed to follow prevents me from sharing those.

Yeah, and you were totally vitriolic there, albeit in a polite, reserved, British kind of way.
 
Vitriol, must mean that way you feel after a puppy licks your nose, 'cos that was some fierce, reasonable mellow in those emails.

No, that was due to the proxy thing. My son did some voodoo on my MacBook and I bypassed the proxy and then they turned it off.

Absolutely not - it was because of the configuration of the cache that the JREF tried to use. It was caching the login page for the admin and mod control panels (mods and admins have to log in to access those even when logged in as members). To the vbulletin software it looked like someone was repeatedly trying to gain access but with the wrong id so we got the locked out message.
 
Darat, I'm so very sorry that you were treated with such disdain. The JREF and this Sharon person have handled this whole situation horribly. For years we've known that JREF/Randi could give a rats ass about the forum and this debacle only serves to send their message in the most careless way possible. I hope we are able to move the forum somewhere else and keep the archive intact. If we are able to migrate I hope you will be involved in what ever way you would feel comfortable.

Did you get e-mails from the JREF president D. J. Grothe? What did he say? (if you did)

Those would be comments to the mod team and not to the JREF. To borrow a line from Star Wars, these are not the comments we're looking for.

...We are looking for the ones with vitriol to the JREF. Why don't you have any?

I just tried it too, and it is required because it comes with this disclaimer:

Nah, that's basically an error that many of us have recived during the course of this situation. I'm pretty sure the cause isn't what it appears.

Although I don't agree with the assessment I believe the JREF considers their emails to me to be confidential and I did agree to keep all such communications confidential so I will not be posting anything the JREF staff/agents sent to me or commenting on it.

It's a bit of a bug in vBulletin, if I recall correctly I couldn't set that field to not required and still let people use it and some folk like their happy birthday gifts so I thought that was a good compromise. (I think I explained that a little back in the thread?)

I feel for you.

JREF can make accusations of "vitriol" with absolutely no evidence, but you are not allowed to defend yourself with evidence.

Were it me, I would seek pastures new. It stands to your character that you are still here, and I sincerely hope you participate in whatever follows.
