I'm not sure I can help any further with your mystification over why a JREF poster (me) would comment in isolationabout an avatar that appeared on the same page of a JREF thread that he was posting on. It will have to remain one of life's mysteries.
There are internet posters out there who regularly explode into fits of rage about stuff posted elsewhere on the net and the shortcomings of the offending authors - The members of a site called PMF or something (for example) are often the targets of these outbursts - but I am not one of those. Comrade platonov views that kind of stuff as revealing more about the source than the target.
And you are not defending the use of the avatar – merely something or other ?
What was the ludicrous (if humorous in its own special way) comparison to the Kennedy footage or the Vietnam photo about in that case.
Ah but you've commented upon your selective distaste at any photograph of the victim's body in this case before, haven't you? You even provided a link to it very recently
I had hoped I had explained my argument on this issue sufficiently, but it appears that my optimism was misplaced. So, once again: it's hypocritical and indicative of poor reasoning to express selective distaste/disgust at any photographs of the victim's body in this case, when such photographs form part of a reasoned, sober analysis of the case, and where other (far worse) photographs (and video) are routinely in circulation for many, many other incidents and victims. If that's not clear then I'm not sure I can offer any further clarification I'm afraid.....
I'm also bemused at your diversion into a non sequitur about attacking posts made on other forums and the individuals who made those posts. Is that relevant to the issue being discussed here? But I laughed at your faux-naive mention of "a site called PMF or something" - lovely stuff! Well done!
Oh and as others have said, I'm hoping you've also contacted that lovely Mr Maresca about his rather more inflammatory decision to project an extremely graphic picture of Kercher's body to the whole court (including the victim's parents) and to the whole media gallery? I'd be very surprised if you hadn't, given your views on the matter. Oh no wait, I wouldn't be surprised at all
