Merged Bigfoot follies

If a Bigfoot finds a grizzly bear eating at his favorite berry patch will he hang back hidden in the shrubbery and throw pinecones towards the bear?

I'm told that it's not uncommon for guides to toss rocks at bears that are getting just a little too close. It seems to make the bears reconsider and back off.

And you've got monkeys allegedly flinging ... stuff.

So apart from not actually existing, it might actually make sense for Bigfoot to toss things to make people back off. Except that doesn't seem to fit the described behavior, where Bigfoot seems to be trying to attract attention. Puzzling.

But that's when there is already visual contact. Bigfoot throws things from a hidden position and doesn't show itself. The bear doesn't see a 9 foot ape throwing stuff at it. It only sees a pinecone coming out of nowhere and landing near his feet. Does the bear leave?

"it is entertaining though to see at least some of the faithful balking at the recent claim of a wood ape breaking a healthy two foot tree at the base. Perhaps even LBB has put too much manure on the shovel this time." - Dmaker
For a reasonable person, this would be true, especially since he can't even post a pic of the broken tree, but for most the BFF's it won't matter.

I don't know if anyone has pointed out that lying Brian Brown is the founder of bigfoot forums. There's the NAWAC site and a whole raft of other related things...

So you have a hoaxer generating traffic to his own websites. The history is pretty straightforward that the initial claims of how promising trail cams were could not be sustained so they had to morph into something else to hold attention.

But you run out of script eventually. So it's two foot butt trees being snapped off. In the beginning, they did post pictures of some claims, like the rock bigfoot was using to crack open nuts. But as the claims get wilder, pictures are impossible.

Probably not, and that's exactly why this alleged behavior on the part of this alleged Bigfoot doesn't make any sense.

It's tossing things at people, an interesting bit of behavior which, as far as I know and I hope someone will contradict me, isn't observed in any wild animal. Why would it throw things? It can't be trying to ward off someone who doesn't even know it's there. It can't be trying to make a tent run away.

It truly boggles the mind that anyone believes their stories. They claim to have wood apes pelting the cabin with rocks regularly and literally falling out of the trees but not a single shred of evidence to offer.

When some apologists attempt to handwave bigfoot nonsense as legend tripping they promote the very real problem of scientific ignorance: campfire stories aren't scientific evidence, unexplained doesn't mean unexplainable, physics and psychics aren't interchangable terms, and "it's just a theory" isn't quite as brilliant a observation as these folks imagine. When your larping begins to misinform your understanding of the real world, maybe it's time to rethink your larping.

ETA: And of course pathological lying to the gullible is exactly honorable.

Excellent LBB drama-flounce at the BFF right now.

All because some meanies won't believe King Kong bigfoot is snapping 2-foot red oaks at the base. Now no more made-up **** field reports from area x.

So lying BB has packed it in at the BFF and will never log in again.

I wonder if Hairy Man will pick up the slack and report goings on at Area X? I wonder if she will vouch for the tree snapping woods monkey that LBB reported?

Speaking of liars, does anyone know if the Michigan liars are still active in BFing?

The Flowers, Coward in Indiana, Pat somebody?

Of course not. It's just that Bigfoot hoaxes and encounter lies are invented by people for the purpose of being believed by other people. Throwing pinecones really doesn't make sense but if there is any way to contort the logic (special pleading) then it will work and stick if it is popular. The proposed horrid odor of Bigfoot doesn't make sense when you think about it either.

I think what is happening is that many Bigfooters like to talk about how Bigfoot has very high intelligence. The object tossing is always a hoax and the hoaxer chooses an object that won't really hurt much if it happens to hit. The idea (I think) is that Bigfoot has a theory of other minds and knows that a human will understand what is going on when a pinecone sails past or rocks rain down on a roof. The human will know that the Boss of the Woods wants them to show respect and is also being polite about asking for it.

What doesn't make sense is why Bigfoot doesn't instead just let out a blood-curdling roar from about 20 feet away and begin to throw lots and lots of very large objects. If they did that consistently they would have the woods to themselves because nobody would dare to encounter such a threat more than once. But hoaxers can't really do that so they instead lob pebbles and candy.

To be fair, throwing big objects would also tend to provoke gunfire.

And yeah, Bigfoot's claimed behavior seems to have a lot more to do with "stuff that can be safely hoaxed" than "stuff animals do."

^^ Dr.Bindernagle did a talk a couple of years back at his old undergrad stomping grounds, the University of Guelph. That is where he got his biology undergrad. As it turns out, that is where my wife also did her undergrad in exactly the same program and is the current president of that departments alumni association. We live about 20 minutes from the U of G campus. I noticed the talk after the fact, and based on the look on her face when I mentioned that I would have maybe attended made me think I would have definitely attended alone. :)

Still, I would happily attend one of these things for S&Gs indeed. Kentucky bigfoot..that is the group that Kentucky Chris or whatever is has name was comes from. He was the guy that claimed bigfeets like to eat pine bark as if it is cotton candy. I think that would offer many S and Gs.

There must be some feelings of frustration and betrayal. The Bigfooters largely accept the unbelievable Texas Pig Tosser encounter story listed on BFRO and yet now too many are rejecting the unbelievable Area X Tree Breaker encounter story.

The BFF 2.0 is a terrible place for Bigfootery because the skeptics and denialists are given too much freedom.

Good fiction requires conflict; conflict generates mouse clicks and site traffic.

But site traffic should diminish when the fiction author leaves and no longer provides ongoing fiction stories.

BB will do a MacArthur. Or a Terminator. You pick.

And even if not, there are any number of storytellers just waiting to fill the void. Maybe that person who got herself skeered **** less by a dogman type footie foo-foo.

I pick that he will never return to posting on BFF.

There is some possibility that the fictional Tree Breaker story was told intentionally as a way to exit from the ongoing reporting of Area X at BFF. Knowing that it would be rejected on the basis of being too fantastic it would provide a justified reason to stop the posting.

These habituation hoaxes have a built-in lifespan. You can only claim to be in close association for so long before people who you feel are important start to call foul on you. I don't know what happened with the Michigan Recording Project habituation but they certainly do not post on the BFF or JREF anymore. Aren't the Bigfoots still there screaming across the river at the researchers?

What about Erickson's Kentucky Project habituation? Aren't the Bigfoots still there sleeping on the dead leaves in full view of a cameraman?

Actually, I thought his recent complaints regarding damaging OK logging practices threatening footie habitat was going to be his area x exit strategy.
