Endless Punishment, Fundie style

CplFerro,

If on entering heaven, you found out that everyone gets to heaven, would it please you or not?

Interesting question. I suspect the answer will be some variation of "I would truly love that, but unfortunately, you are damned forever. Not my fault, tough luck".

Hook a cousin up, then!
I have made a substantial EFT into your account, but you must believe.

Now that my funds, surely, have been so depleted, I must re-double my incapacity to imagine how I could possibly lack so much money. I cannot. It is unpossible, therefore I must have trillions! Trillllions!

There, all better now.

I liked, "It sucks to be you," once I heard it. It covers the essential points very well.

Dear Donn,
Do me a favour, drop the dear thing. I know your opinion of me all too well and this feigned endearment is tedious.
The wheel turns, Donn, Jehovah becomes the Devil, up becomes down, and courtesy becomes insult. I am insulted you think I am insulting you. The only flaw in you that I can detect, aside from your Atheism, is your inability, read unwillingness, to think in terms of the transcendent, which, I suppose, amount to the same thing. In terms of the ship of state, this is cutting the moorings, this is death. Are you an ecologist perchance? No, never mind, we have nothing to discuss, as is your pleasure.

I wonder upon which set of superstitious traditions you are basing your claim that one imaginary entity becomes another.

I wonder why intentional saccharinity is, by your standards, more "courteous" than illustrational sarcasm.

I wonder why you think atheism is "the same thing" as "inability" to wallow in "the transcendent".

It was, after all, you who argued that "something" and "nothing" are the "same thing".

Ferro, my asking you to cut the insincere dear is not the same as resigning from conversation. I'm not alone in feeling it was off. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I had to say something.

Dear Giordano,

In Heaven, upon witnessing the full glory of God and the justice of His decisions, I think my happiness would be mandatory, don't you?

An odd way of saying it.
Would God make you be happy?
How do you feel about it now, before He requires you to be happy?

Good Ferro, sweet our coz, let us sweetly reason together, dear:

I wonder if you are aware that you did not answer the question.

Was that intentional?

In other words, one must first believe before one can find reason to believe? That's a circular argument. You like to talk about how atheists fail to grasp the concept of a transcendent being, yet you frequently fail to grasp the fact that there are reasons people turn away from religious belief. Some find it disillusioning, some have had bad experiences, and some are cautious about believing anything without evidence. If God cared so much, he'd get off his transcendent ass, come down off his high cloud, and meet me face to face.

However, you would blame me for not seeking him with enough "sincerity."

I am not sure I would be happy in a place where happiness is forced upon me.

No free will in heaven?

No free will in heaven?

The idea, as best I understand it, tsig, is that a created entity can be admitted to Heaven only after being tested in some way, and transformed after that test into a thing that will have sufficient spiritual inertia to carry it to eternity, so that it will never want to do ill, or, if in Hell, it will never want to do good.

I struggle with the same thing, ehcks. But, I suppose I must submit to the wisdom of God.

Material causes are the only way to explain anything, unless you're talking about events without cause, or the topic is immaterial.

No free will, then?

Dear Frozenwolf,

Are you the same person who believes that certain things in the Universe, including the Universe itself (i.e. everything), “just happen” for no reason? And you call yourself a rationalist?

As to the death of religion, I think hatred of parents, including especially of the father, has a lot to do with it.

Ferro Dear, so precious to us that we are tempted to refer to you as "our riotous field of daffodowndillies":

The question, of course, was, in your current situation, does the idea of finding out that everbody talkin' 'bout (or even not talkin' 'bout) "hebm" is, in fact, goin' there, make you, in fact, joyful?

You seem to be saying that you would be joyful if your 'god' made you be so. Are you let thitherto from even considering the hypothetical possibility, but that your 'god' maketh it so?

Why would the thought of universal eternal peace and joy for all "souls" only make you happy if you were commanded so to be?
