"Your Deceptive Mind: A Scientific Guide to Critical Thinking Skills"

I downloaded this a while back. It is very good, indeed. Dr. Novella has a an effective approach to explaining such topics and this course should appeal to fans of the SGU.
 
If I was pushing some woo for a living the last person who I would want to be discussing me is Steven Novella. He is crazy brilliant on several levels. He will deconstruct your woo to the spot that is insupportable every time in a quick and entertaining fashion. He retains an unbelievable amount of knowledge and that's just the non-neuroscience stuff. He must be able to read fast and remember a lot. He is a great spokesman for skeptics too because of his personality. He never lets anyone who disagrees with him ever throw him from his sincere good-natured manners. I read his Blog (that's always time well spent reading), and listen to his podcast. The guy must be good at managing time. He appears frequently as a token skeptic on woo documentaries and woo doctor shows.

I completely agree with you. I think he is my favorite currently living skeptic. I wish he'd write a book! Like The Demon-Haunted World, but more up to date and with fewer aliens.
 
Wow. There was no way I was going to pay that full price, so I was ready to give up, but the discount package was way too tempting to pass up. I'm old fashioned so I ordered the CDs, figuring I can copy them to my PC anyway, so it will be a bit before I get to enjoy them, but I anticipate great stuff.

Well spotted - there are a lot of 'The Great Courses' courses on Audible, a lot cheaper (I wish you'd posted sooner!). You don't get the discs or the accompanying booklet with Audible, but they're not worth the price difference.

But you wre disinclined to buy it because of the original pricing, right?

Anyways, it's excellent that Novella is getting this kind of material out. When it comes to skepticism I think he is the heir of Carl Sagan (not when it comes to ordinary science popularizing though).
 
In some ways I think the final lecture should have been the first one. It is really a summary of skeptical philosophy.
