I have never even heard a coherent definition of what a soul is supposed to be. No, I have not in any way ascertained the fact that I have one. And I would bet dollars to donuts that the reasoning by which you have reached that conclusion is not sound.

If you got rid of all the matter which comprises who you are physically, and examined the remaining engery field or pattern, this would be your soul which, if you could see, would probably look identical to your physical body.

Are you saying you have actually performed this experiment? Or are you just guessing. I know of no evidence whatsoever for such an energy field. As for it looking identical to my physical body, that seems rather unlikely. Where does the light come from? Does this field emit light? If so, why don't people glow in the dark? Does it reflect light? If so, how?

Now as far as what this energy field entails, it's your consciousness.

That seems to be an odd claim as well. All of the aspects of consciousness that I know of have been pretty clearly shown to be brain processes. I know that my thoughts, memories, personality, perception, awareness, and sense of self, are all brain processes. Those things are what I think of when I hear "consciousness". If the soul is not any of them, then what is it? Or are you claiming that like the visual properties of my physical body, the soul somehow duplicates all of these things?

You called it an energy field? Are you using that term in the scientific sense? If not, you need to define what you mean. So far this is not a very coherent definition of soul at all. It is nothing but hand-waving and vague analogies.

I said that what is described in the Book of Genesis is not possible. Your wishful metaphorical interpretations of that book come from you, not from the Bible. I will not make any claims about the possibility of fantasies you have dreamed up in your mind. At least, not until I hear in detail what those fantasies are.

What gives "birth" to consciousness?

The same kind of stuff that makes my dog consious. Humans are animals just like other animals.
As I recall you were making some reference to the book of genesis.

Only recently? Would you say about the last 10,000 years? And how long have we really existed on this planet as a species?

The african hominids go back about 3 million years, archaic homo spaiens somewhere between 60,000-100,000 year. The last i recall seeing it was an out of africa, into asia and back into africa radiation.

I have been able to ascertain the fact that I have a soul. How about yourself?

It is possible but you missed the analogy of the bible, adam and eve are spirits in the garden until they are driven out and then clothe themselves in the skins of animals.
