XKCD guy does science book of answers to weird questions

Are you being paid to promote this book or something? I don't get the point of repeatedly bringing it back to the top of the science forum with TTT posts.

I love xkcd and the What If blog, but the book was released almost a month ago.

Nope - never been paid to put anything here and would not do that. BUT I have noticed over the years that it is quite possible for some interested people to somehow miss occurrences that they would be interested in. My background includes but is not at all limited to librarian and reference prep. Even when not so employed I tend to provide data I think someone might have missed for a (hopefully) sufficiently long time that they won't. YMMV.

With no offense, are you possibly thinking of it as a waste of column inches?

I ask only because my understanding is that that is not a functional cost except in actual print formats where it can lead to using more paper than absolutely necessary.

To further that point I just now noticed this and I'm interested.

It's a good book and I got to it via this thread...I see no reason not to bump it....if not interested....move on...there are far worse threads that deserve an early death.

Thank you gentlemen, point made and no other intent but helping others when I bump. :):):)

Relativistic Baseball is still my favourite.

Especially the essential information in the last paragraph:

"in this situation, the batter would be considered "hit by pitch", and would be eligible to advance to first base."

great book btw, although most if the stuff was already available on the "what if"-website.

I'm assuming that the book will be new content, yes? Not just a print publishing of the What If? posts?

They are awesome, by the way.

Half and half. Plus a bunch of the crazier questions he got, some with brief humorous replies.
