I've discussed the matter with Pyrrho and we feel you've had ample warning and notification about the forum's copyright rules. Another violation will result in a three day temporary suspension from the forum. After which, you will be allowed to return to the forum and post as you normally would. Subsequent violations will result in stronger punishments.

I strongly urge that you read the forum rules before you post any more articles. A diversity of opinion is important on a board like ours, but we cannot allow anyone to break the law.

This Winston guy is simply trying to get banned so he can brag about it on other message boards.
He obviously has no urge to participate in an actual debate. He is a hit and run poster who's too intellectually deficient to compete in a realm such as this.
 
This isn't about his ideas nor is he going to be banned. No one on here gets banned because of their ideas.

This is a legal issue, pure and simple. Winston is using the JREF board to break the law and that cannot be allowed by anyone.

I totally realize that.

I'm simply speculating on Winston's motives. My guess is that once he is banned he won't mention that the reason he was banned is for repeated copyright violations. I'm sure he will create some fantastical tale about how the JREF couldn't handle his cutting edge way of thinking and his banning was the only way the board could suppress his ideas.

I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong Upchurch. You're doing exactly what you should be doing.
 
If he isn't banned, I would love to see his inane posts buried by subsequent new posts. This will happen most rapidly if no one responds to those posts. He doesn't often answer them anyway and when he does, they consist of the same drivel.
A long way of pleading that we do not feed the troll.

I don't see any reason why any Mod Op (hey, that sounds nice...I'll trademark it!) should not be done in public.

Get serious, guys. Trolls are the entertaining part of the forum. We all love to hate them. Most of us feed them. And that's good. We need trolls to highlight the difference between critical thinkers and credulous ninnies.

Be grateful for trolls. They give our struggles purpose.

Yeah, in fact calling him a troll gives him too much credit. Trolls are large ominous creatures. Winston is more like a fly in the soup.

Perhaps we should find a better expression for such creatures. How about some suggestions, then we could make a poll ;)? I'll start:

Winston has a habit of starting all his posts with the words, "My friend [insert-woo-woo-clod-name] asked me to post this here...", followed by a cut-and-paste of this twerp's diatribe, followed by a rapid exit and no further discussion entered into.

Because they swoop in, squawk a lot of nonsense, sh1t on something, and then fly away without any further useful contribution, I suggest we call such people "seagulls".

Very true. A beast that can outcompete the Norway Rat deserves our respect. How about shitehawk; more general, but almost the same denotation.

I find that I usually read a troll's first post unless it's intolerably long (Winnie WuWu666's usually are), but then I tend to scroll through his subsequent posts if any, reading saner people's responses. This spares me a vast deal of dullness, because even the best troll God ever let live is usually a crummy writer. Well, what would you expect? They're just talking to themselves.

The nastiest word I know that isn't actually obscene is "pissmire," a folk term for certain kinds of ants. But I don't think it will do to replace "troll," because ants are hard-working, socially responsible, and law-abiding.

It's actually a Danish word: Pissemyre, and it is indeed a urinating ant.

My God, I thought I'd heard everything. Claus Larsen, I'm seeing a side to you that I never would have thought existed. It's no damn wonder you're open to the idea of mediums. Anybody that knows a fancy term for a urinating ant MUST have somewhat of a screwball mind.

How about 'Kobald'?

Not the ones from folklore, the DnD ones. They are nastly little doglike reptillian people known for cowardice and thier annoying yappy barks.

And they only have 1/4 of a hit dice...
