Would anyone be up for making a video if I provided the script?

I want to make a video parody of "The PentaCON" using the theme I came up with in this thread. Unfortunately, I am not what you would call "tech savvy", nor do I have any skill or experience making videos. I don't even have any voice recording equipment.

So what I figured I could do: I could write a basic script for such a video, give it to one of the more tech-savvy people on these forums, and you could do what the heck you like with it. All I'd ask is that the name "1337m4n" be put somewhere in the credits (don't care where).

And if not, please just point me in the direction of some video-making software that is very simple and easy to learn.

I can't do the video and I won't do the voice unless you want everyone to be scared when they hear it but I will help somehow...what you need?

I would love to. I've been looking for a project to film while I write my own scripts (not 9/11 based, mind you).

It wouldn't be anything particularly flashy - I have a NVGS500 Panasonic with which to film, and possibly other cameras should I borrow from friends. I can get my hands on sound recording equipment, but basic stuff. And the editing would be done in Adobe Premiere 5.0 - not exactly 'top-of-the-line' stuff. Also I'm in Australia.

If all that is okay with you, send me through a copy of the script. I'd be happy to have a look at it!

I'm not aware of the PentaCon being influential in any way. I do think there's a risk of giving undue attention to people who aren't taken seriously except by a very small lunatic fringe. Remember that they're in this for the attention, positive or negative. However, I do think the 9/11 Pentagon claims, and the bizarre misuse and ignoring of witness testimony by truthers, are ripe subjects for a video.

Apologies to 1337m4n for piggybacking on his thread, but I've wondered if my meeting my wife in an Internet chat on 9/11 would make a good movie. Kind of like "You've Got Mail", except framed by the tragedy that day (and we didn't know and hate each other IRL beforehand).

If anyone wants to make that movie, let me know. I'll give you some background. Feel free to cast someone better-looking than I am as me, too.

This reminded me...

There's a DVD floating around called 11':09":01 which is a collection of 11 short films made by various filmmakers from around the world, in tribute to 9/11. Each film is 11 minutes 9 seconds and 1 frame long, making the date 11:09:01 (which is the international dd:mm:yy format).

Some of them are lame, some are political in a way that will probably make you furious, and others seem to pay lip service to the tragic event.

Some stand out as being exceptional.

I recommend the Iranian segment by Samira Makhmalbaf, the Israeli segment by Amos Gitaï, and the French segment by Claude Lelouch.

Anyway, my point is the French segment takes place between a couple living in New York City. The man leaves for his job as a tour guide, while the woman stays home and writes him a letter explaining why she is leaving him. She's deaf, so she's oblivious to what is happening on the TV and outside her apartment.

It was an excellent example of a romantic story set against a backdrop of a tragic event and done well. Usually it's done exceedingly poorly, and the tragic event merely acts as a way to try and turn the romantic story into something other than a romance. Think Pearl Harbor and Titanic.

This film did it very well though.

ETA. The Iranian film will also no doubt be appreciated by anyone who has tried in vain to explain 9/11 to a Conspiracy Theorist.

If we could have all stood under a mill tower a few hours after 9/11, I'm sure none of the Avery-stupids would have picked up their guns (Laptops, I mean laptops).

Samira is amazing. Seen the 'Apple'?

Hmmm...I don't know how to decide between Mobyseven and Unsecured Coins.

How about online Rock-Paper-Scissors? You each send me a Private Message with three picks. I post the results on this thread, winner best 2 of 3.

Oh yeah, make sure you tell me what order your picks are in. For example, write something like:

1st: rock
2nd: paper
3rd: rock

Hmmm...tell you what you can do. You can be the "DJ". At various points in my script there will be commands for soundtracks, as in <BEGIN obnoxious techno music soundtrack> or <BEGIN heavy metal soundtrack>. You can pick out the specific songs that match those commands.

Pincacle studio is cheap, easy, and will fill all of your needs. Video Explosion is another, as is Windows Movie Maker (which comes with XP). I also hear Adobe Premiere Elements is not to hard to learn, though given the initial learning curve with Adobe Premiere Pro, the ease of its use may be a relative thing.

Deal...I have 300 gigs of obnoxious heavy, black, death and industrial...got some techno in there too :)

enigma, you need to check out Thunderbrew and Bullistic. Most kicking of the jams, they make.
You mean Ballistic...got em.

i have heard Thunderbrew but cant seem to find their albums. I know they have 4.

ETA - Found Bullistic. They are heavy but it seems too southern but their new album does have a Pantera flavor. Have you heard the reformed Pantera with a new singer. The album is Rebel vs. Rebel,

Thunderbrew has 3. I got 'em. I also know 'em...

Are you kidding me about the Pantera thing? Rebel Meets Rebel was recorded many moons ago in bits and pieces. That's David Alan Coe singing with Pantera minus Phil

Nope. The Rebel vs Rebel album is considered the reformed Pantera. Pity about Dimebag. Damageplan was good (and quite vulgar).

Unsecured Coins, I need your three Rock-Paper-Scissors picks:
