Never mind, you can console yourself with the fact that whatever else they think of you, they know that neither you nor Danish D. will ever be relevant to the real world, out of your own choice, which certainly does reduce any immediacy, doesn't it?

The mine field/death strip does not need to be a mile wide.

I will point to the IGB and the area around West Berlin for a fine example of effective death strips less than a mile deep.

800m will suffice, particularly if you set up the fields of fire with some care.

Yes, or a long ditch like the ones that used to surround castles in the middle ages. They could even set is ablaze!

What I find interesting about this thread is that the only complaint against illegal immigration is really about paying people "under the table".
Would a wall stop illegal migrants? Only if we can detect and respond to breaches within a few minutes (like less than 5), because that is about the time it takes an illegal crosser in a border town to disappear into the crowd.
How many people actually cross out in the open desert anyway? A few thousand a day?
 
The question assumes that the mexican boarder is the entry point for illegals. This may be true in the southwest. I live in the northeast. We have plenty of illegals but very few of them came from the mexican boarder. Most of them enter legally than overstay and become illeagl. A wall does nothing to stop that.

Anyone know the % of illegals that enter legally?

Anyhoo, a wall is a waste of money since it only deals with one peice of the problem. Youd be better off spending that wall money on hiring Ice agents to round up illegals.
 
Fortress and The Running Man were truly ahead of their time. We just need to attach exploding neck collars to all illegals who are caught. If they try to cross the boarder again bye bye head. We could even send Christopher Lambert over there just to be sure there won't be any more Highlander movies.
 
I had an experice with "illegal aliens" here in Houston recently that I have been dying to tell and this thread is a good one since the subject is about fences to keep illegals out. We have a half acre backyard that has needed a new fence for quite a while. My health is bad and my wife has had to take over a lot of things I used to take care of. She did the usual thing by getting 3 estimates, 2 from well known building supply firms and one that I didn't know about from a guy from El Salvador who was also doing a bit of yard work for us.

What I didn't know was that she chose the guy from El Salvador and gave him a check for almost 5 grand to buy the materials. I didn't find this out until I checked our on-line bank statements and saw the check had cleared. I literally went nuts! It was Friday, the guy had 5k in cash and I had no way of knowing what the hell I could do except accept the fact that the 5k was gone forever. It was a long weekend but Monday morning the truck delivered the fencing material and the guy was here putting up the fence. I have lived around illegals all my life and I can honestly say that I have never been wronged by any of them.

I don't think Lambert leaves Luxemborg or wherever it is he's living these days. We should be safe. :D
