"Women’s legs are essentially sexy"

From my time hanging out in the Village area of New York City I can personally attest that male cross-dressers have the nicest legs. I have never seen a woman with nicer legs than those drag queens. They were things of beauty.

"Because women cannot see themselves from the rear, the vast majority of women are unaware that trousers are very unflattering for them"
Not only is this guy a creep, apparently he's unaware that women can look over their shoulders in front of a full-length mirror. I'm perfectly capable of viewing myself from the rear, moron.

I have a thing for men's legs. I think it is hostile behavior for them not to wear skirts, since their legs are essentially sexy, and should be seen. I hereby demand a change in men's clothing choices more in line with my personal tastes.

Trust me on this: One look at my legs would put you off sex for life.

Norm

I do wish more women would wear skirts. Most of the ones that do so with any regularity around here are doing so for their repressive religious demands. Long light skirts look great so I want to see them.

That's a personal preference though and the guy is making an idiotic argument. He could have left it at 'I like the way they look' and not put in not only foolishly sexist and off base assertions about trousers and how women look in them, but not basically attacked women as selfish for their personal preferences of dress. Those obviously are a great deal more important than what some random dolt like myself or that guy likes to see! Major creep.

But what do I know, I'd wear yukata most of the time if it were socially acceptable. :o

A few months ago, I saw a man in a modern kilt (plain fabric, not the traditional plaid) The kilt looked pretty comfortable.

As for me, I wear pants, skirts or dresses depending upon three factors: 1. My mood 2. The weather 3. what's clean :p

The public probably does not want to see me in "Daisy Dukes."

At my company we encourage female employees to wear skirts. I do think it gives a more professional impression.

Of course nobody has to show off her legs, i.e. long skirts are an option. Some of the younger female employees wear miniskirts, which is nice so long as the miniskirt is not so short that it is a major distraction.

And it's not a hard and fast rule, i.e. if a female employee insists on wearing pants she is not written up for it or sent home to change.

Methinks Demetri is not familiar with cellulite and the stereotypical super sized Wal Mart shopper version of the female leg.

Empress: no, I'm not shaving my legs for you.

That may be overstating this guy's importance. "A major donor to UKIP" does not equate to "a public figure", and I've certainly never heard of him.

Mike

I agree. Why do we care what this guy says?

Either he has not included jeans in his definition of "trousers" or he is completely out of his mind.m Possibly both, I suppose.

I don't think pants are a problem. But I will say that empire waist dresses should be banned. They are not flattering. On anyone.

Or so says one Demetri Marchessini in his book Women in Trousers: A Rear View (published in 2003 but it seems that only recently has anyone actually read a copy). He also said it was "hostile behaviour" for women to wear trousers rather than skirts and that "women’s legs are essentially sexy"...
So let me get this straight, this guy's annoyed that women don't dress so he can ogle them?

This guy actually sounds like a budding stalker-type rapist. I watch too many crime shows but the way he sees women's clothing choices and an affront to him is not sane, IMHO.
Yeah, this guy is a serious creep.
Well he's nearly eighty so probably not much of a risk. I'm waiting for comparisons with Saville et al to be drawn.

Not only is this guy a creep, apparently he's unaware that women can look over their shoulders in front of a full-length mirror. I'm perfectly capable of viewing myself from the rear, moron.
Yeah, that struck me as rather stupid. Mirrors aren't exactly a new idea.

So let me get this straight, this guy's annoyed that women don't dress so he can ogle them?
So it seems.

What an ass.
Pun intended? :)

Marchessini also opposes (what he considers) political correctness and seems to be a bit of a conspiracy nut too. From his book Scams & Hypocrisy:
On Bill Clinton
But the most shocking action that Clinton committed took place on his very last day in office, when he pardoned Marc Rich, the well-known fugitive. Now, Clinton was not related to Marc Rich — he was not his brother, nor his cousin. Indeed, he had never even met him. Why, therefore, would he pardon a well-known fugitive? It is perfectly obvious that Rich must have given him an enormous bribe. And yet this possibility has never been raised in America. American naïvety is amazing, and Clinton relied on it. He knew that he would get away with it.
On Tennis:
The rules of Tennis clearly state that “play shall be continuous”. Each time that a player stops play to contest a ruling, therefore, he is not only being discourteous and unsportsmanlike, but he is also breaking the rules of Tennis. The leading culprit was McEnroe. Not surprisingly, players very rarely stop to argue about a line call when they are winning — it seems to happen only when they are losing, and when their opponent is going well. Inevitably, the interruption disrupts their opponent’s rhythm and concentration, while giving themselves a chance to re-group. That is quite clearly cheating, and yet it is allowed to continue. Is that “tennis” ?
On African slavery:
Another of the most hypocritical issues in today’s world is the guilt about the slavery practised in the New World by the colonial powers. Americans are wringing their hands in remorse at this terrible thing. As usual, the Americans only see their own history. The fact is that slavery has existed since the beginning of time, all over the world. There was nothing new about it. The colonial powers did not invent it. More to the point, people refuse to admit that the blacks had anything to do with it. When the English and the French landed in West Africa, they did not run around with lassoes, trying to catch blacks. They bought slaves from BLACK slave dealers. Indeed, the slave trade was the mainstay of the black kingdoms of West Africa, and was what they lived on. There had always been an enormous amount of slavery throughout all of Black Africa. At one time, three-quarters of Black Africans were slaves.

Nor did slaves in Africa have a very good future. Their average life expectancy was only about six months. The voyage to America was horrible, but those who survived it had a considerably longer life expectancy. The most amusing event was that, after first England, and then France, had abolished slavery, and slave trading had fallen drastically, a delegation from West Africa came to the European capitals, to protest that their income had been cut, and to request that their abolition of slavery be reversed.
He expounds further in the book on why university students are a threat to society, why Joe McCarthy was an under-appreciated American hero and more.

Oh and he's an AGW denier:
One of the amazing phenomena in today’s world is the belief, by a large portion of the population, that “global warming” is caused by man. There is not the slightest evidence for this belief, and yet not only do many people believe it implicitly, but they castigate and criticise as “fools” those who do not accept it. What is the evidence for this assertion?
and denies the link between HIV and AIDS
Now, it was, and is, perfectly clear that HIV could not possibly be the cause of AIDS. HIV is a virus, and viruses spread like wildfire, like colds.
with a level of ignorance about virii and epidemiology that's staggering.

There are some women (and men, for that matter) who look good in more or less anything they wear – partly, I suspect, because they are careful about picking clothes which suit them, but mainly because they have an inbuilt elegance. Others have trouble looking good in anything. (I speak from experience. One of my sons was heard to say “when my father makes a fashion statement it has all the hallmarks of a suicide note”. Unkind, perhaps, but accurate.)

Two examples. My ex-wife (a comely wench) walked through a local town in a pair of tightish trousers. A lorry driver nearly put his truck through a shop window.

Second. I worked for several years as a support teacher in a school, and one of my classes was with a teacher of English, who always wore trousers (often usually ok, always tight) and always looked good spectacular. Watching her bending over a desk explaining something to a student would leave a marble statue overheating. God knows what it did to 16 year old boys with raging hormones. (Don’t ask the obvious question – the answer’s “yes”.)

She moved on promotion to another school as Head of Sixth Form English (roughly 16, 17 and 18 year olds). The boys probably have a rota for going out to the toilet. I doubt if Arnie has right arm with muscles like theirs. Pity – they probably don’t know she’s gay.

Skirts, trousers – who cares. Who am I – a mere male with a suicidal sense of style – to tell anyone what to wear. If people want to look good, fine by me. If (like me) they don’t know how to – fine. But putting me in the male equivalent of Daisy Dukes would be an arrestable offense for affronting public sensibilities.
