Wisconsin City Allows Teaching Creationism

GRANTSBURG, Wis. - The city's school board has revised its science curriculum to allow the teaching of creationism, prompting an outcry from more than 300 educators who urged that the decision be reversed.

School board members believed that a state law governing the teaching of evolution was too restrictive. The science curriculum "should not be totally inclusive of just one scientific theory," said Joni Burgin, superintendent of the district of 1,000 students in northwest Wisconsin.

Last month, when the board examined its science curriculum, language was added calling for "various models/theories" of origin to be incorporated.

Why don't they devote a full 3-month period to the teaching of Flat-Earth-over-4-Elephants-over-a-Turtle-ism? I haven't heard of anyone debunking it, and there's lots of written evidence for that!

Let's hope they don't push that crazy Christian interpretation. Everyone knows The Box created all life 5 minutes ago.

Yes, it was the Mighty Box, who planted all this evidence and logic and fake memories to test our faith!

And all those that oppose are evil LOCKists!

This is what I don't get. If they want to include the theory of Intelligent Design into the program, it doesn't seem like it would be a very long class.

Teacher: Hello and welcome to Intelligent Design. In this class we will explore the possibility that earth and everything on it was created by an intelligent being. Though possible we have no evidence for it. Thank you, I hope you enjoyed this class. Everyone gets an A!

Welcome to JesusLand.

You voted for it. Live with it.

The rest of the world will have to.

Yes, because they wish to LOCK us outside the mighty Box where evil things exist! Only by thinking inside the Box can there be any Real Knowledge(tm)!

Spot on.

However, there is another aspect of this that is profoundly disturbing: You are not allowed to question the data. If you do so, you flunk. You fail. You get bad grades.

It is the exact opposite of how mankind has progressed throughout the centuries. It is not advancing, it is a return to the dark ages. It is not education, it is mind-control.

Actually I voted for governmental policies I agreed with. The whole religion just came along as excess baggage with the puppet representing what I voted for. Remember what happened when he tried to pass a bill granting government funds to religious institutions? Vetoed! Thanks to checks and balances, I don't forsee him as doing too much harm to our country, but when he's a good little puppet and does what his advisors tell him to, these things will run through the senate at a rate you can almost call "efficient."

No I didn't! *sigh*

Time to move.

I got room in my basement.

You can apply for asylum here.

It will most certainly create an "international incident".

When you vote, you vote for the whole package.

Indeed, some Creationists have had second thoughts about the Dover, PA school board's recent passage of a requirement that ID be taught. At Answers in Genesis they worry that "...science instructors, in a mocking fashion, might teach alternative theories like ID inaccurately...furthermore, as the curriculum is currently worded,, these teachers will have full license to make their students aware of problems in intellignet design." (the AiG quote was posted at Stranger Fruit 21 October 2004).

Did anyone else notice how certain recent political talk bore a strong resemblance to Creationist argument?

Neato! Can they include a unit on Trinitarian Mathematics, too?

1 + 1 + 1 = 1 !!!

Question it, you fail....but don't try this in your REAL math class --- you'll fail there too.

No, of course not. But you have to deal with it.

I never said I wasn't going to deal with it, I said it won't be as bad as one might think.

No. You have the equation wrong. You forgot the variable.

1x + 1x + 1x = 1x

It makes sense only when x = zero. ;)
