Windscale Fire 1957: Coverup Conspiracy?

yes, that's a great link Geni!

I don't think I'll bother to reply to her, unless she emails me again. Her claim that she nows how the military covers things marks her out as a probable tinfoil-hatter and I don't have the stomach to argue with those.
The stuff about military coverups remind me of the stories my hub tells about his time in the RAF at the end of the 50s. He was a radar operator and spent much of his service in a small radar station in the North of England. It was supposed to be a hush-hush affair, with the station's purpose (monitoring aircraft and possible missiles coming in from the East) kept highly classified. But every time he and his mates went into the village, somebody would always ask them "Spotted any Russian bombers today, lads?" Mind you, that may have had something to do with all the local girls who got invited up into the station to relieve the boredom of a night's eventless radar-watching..... :D

Just 1 Village? did it stop at the Milestone on route to Ravenglass or the pub maybe (The Glowing Sheep).
OMG, the sheep were glowing! Coverup!
